I remember the Christmas of '83 getting Doc, Gung-Ho and Destro squished into a stocking hanging on my door!  It was great because I had just finished the "Dr.Venom" arc in the comics (issues #12-19) and I wanted more characters from that.  Also, my 1st Destro figure dissapeared in the summer and I wanted a replacement, but I don't recall ever asking for another.

I remember one christmas in the 80s when I opened a box and inside I found V2 snake eyes, barbeque and shipwreck. I was so excited as i would always go to consumers distributing and try to order one of those three and they never had them in. I got a lot of joeès and vehicles over the years but this one stuck out for me.  I plan on giving my son a box just like it this year...

I was 13 in 86, unfortunately the last year I got toys for Christmas  >:(so I remember it well.
I gave my mom a list of vehicles I'd love, and she got me the Conquest, Triple T and the Stun.  Spent the next 2 days putting them together but have no pics from that year.  Now with my 2 kids, we videotape and take pictures of EVERYTHING they get.  Would sure like to have those memories on film!

You know, it seems that we were more attached to our toys than kids are today.  I'm not sure if that's good or bad.  I mean, the experience we had as kids in the 80's isn't exactly the norm historically speaking.  Things are just diffent now.  Contradicting what I just said, I can't remember when I actually got joes, I'm sure some were Christmas gifts.  For some reason, the ones I remember getting were mostly on family vacations to Tennessee to visit relatives.

I was 13 too when I got the Terrordrome for X-mas by them most of my friends were getting more clothing than anything.  The last Joe item I got as a X-mas gift was the Mobile Command Center.  I still bought the odd Joe figure and vehicle on my own until the neon days started.

I don't care what anyone says, if you were a kid in the 80's, Hulk Hogan was LAME and Sarge was the real man cuz he was a G.I. JOE.  ;D
