I remember that there was a joe called "D?traqu?" in french, I wonder if that was Stalker...(?) ;D

I was never much into that show as a kid, neither in English nor in French.

But I do remember the guy who voiced General Hawk now does Principal Skinner on The Simpsons.

In french or in english? General Hawk in both Sunbow's and DIC's was voiced in english by the late Ed Gilbert...who happened to have passed away ten years ago.... :'( Yo...joe...

Not entirely related, but I have a translated Quebec release of Marvel's Transformers #4, and it features a full-page ad with a bunch of Joes, all of whom have their silly translated names.  I don't have a scanner, but if you're interested, I'll type up the list for you.

Wow.  Some of these are really bad.  Not sure who ?claireur and D?traqu? are, but ?claireur can mean scout.  Though I don't remember Joes who ran around with baseball bats yelling 'Bonk!'  As for D?traqu?, maybe Stalker?  I'm really not sure.

Okay I could be mistaken here, but does anyone like me who originally watched Gi joe in french remember that Quick Kick was called "Pieds d'?clairs" and not "Savata"? I know that later in '88, Light Foot who was also known then in french as "Pieds d'?clairs" was released as a figure, but this might not have been the first time that french name mix up happened anyway.

Per instance, take 87's Outback name in french: "Salvo". Nobody from Hasbro Canada really expected at that time that a character name of the same name in english would be later released in the 90's...with the name Salvo (both in english and french).

Could Quick Kick have suffered a similar fate, that is, if he was called "Pieds d'?clair" in the french cartoon?

The names seem to vary between show and filecards. Duke was never "Luc" on a filecard... Roadblock was Roadblock on his original filecard and Barrage on all later ones.
