Title: Target Exclusive Past & Present set is out...
Post by: olyeller01 on November 12, 2009, 08:02:33 PM
I have been constantly monitoring Target.com hoping to find the SNAKE Armor, among other things, whenever they put it up for ordering on the site (saves me a lot of trips to Target).  Well today that paid off, but not in the way I expected.

Today they had up the exclusive Past & Present set.  If you don't know yet, this set includes the RoC Rockslide ATAV with Snow-Job...and a reproduction of the original Polar Battle Bear with a ARAH-style Snow Job!  It comes in a pretty neat box, too, with half of the box art being Rise of Cobra and the other half being classic 80's GI Joe.

The price is $24.99 American, and this is a win for me.  I actually kinda liked the Rockslide, and don't mind having another one (plus RoC Snow Job looks like he has different paint apps...PLUS all of 25th Snow Job's accessories!) AND I've never had the Battle Bear, or an ARAH Snow Job.

So, my Canadian friends, I sincerely hope this shows up at Zellers for you guys, and that the price isn't too astronomical, because it looks like a cool set.  Plus, Hasbro hinted that if the set does well, we can probably expect more "Past and Present" sets!

Expect a review as soon as I get it!

I want a past and present Stinger but I doubt they would use what is basically the same mold.

They could do the Stinger for past and the Steel Crusher for present, though.

That is actually quite one hell of an idea.  I'd definitely buy the set, even though I already have both (I love both vehicles!)  And it would let all the poor folks that missed out on the 25th Stinger not have to pay astronomical prices for one.  Somebody notify Hasbro!

I ordered the Past and Present set on Target a couple weeks ago, I don't think it's shipped yet though.

If you do notice the Serpent Armor wave can you PM me here or on YoJoe? I find the Target site a real bear to keep checking. Lucky for me I have a home in the US to send orders to. :)

It'd be nice to see, I did notice the local Zeller's here had the RHINO excl. for about $80.

I'd hate to think what the price would be at Zellers for this set!

Also, I remember at the JoeCon that this was the only vehicle set planned.  The next couple are apparently going to be figure-only.  However, as said, if they do well further vehicle sets could happen.  Although I would say it is fairly safe to assume that any future vehicle sets would be "alpha" class vehicles.

I could see the Ferret/Snake-whatever being a set.

I can't help but wonder what figure packs they'll make. Movie characters or, like the Rockslide, a character not in the movie but present in the 25th Anniversary/ROC toylines?

Got mine today. Pretty nice I guess. The ARAH stuff is all I care about, though it's nice I hadn't already bought the Alpha version of the snowmobile.

An error on the box art has Frostbite riding the Polar Battle Bear. Kinda odd.

Anyway the quality of the ARAH figure is as good or better than the comic-pack and TRU exclusive stuff from earlier this decade. Snow Job comes with all his equipment and is a nice remake of an often-discolored figure.

That one would probably cost $US50.  :shifty:

it is an awesome set.  Out here in the states, they appear to be overstocked with them because of the holiday season. I  am taking my chances of hopefully finding them on clearance, just like the ultimate battle packs last year.

Yeah, I saw quite a few PAst & Presents over the past few days.  Saw my first Snake Armor today.  Considered buying it but passed for now.  It's a pretty cool deal though as it and the Viper look nice but it's not my focus.

I wonder how much Zellers is going to overcharge those sets for when they come to Canada...
