Odd...

There appears to be an old Marvel comic hidden beneath the layers of the new one.

What the heck does that have to do with Resolute? Hasbro's being weird again or what? Did they just dig up something old and unused and slap the word Resolute on it?

Great story idea.  Really dumb execution.  Overall this was a great story, but someone once again trying to add another "badass" trooper level is dumb.   Shoehorning in a character from another era is worse.

I feel an effort was made there to create a real story. At least they answered a good question, which was "how can they afford do kill off their elite troops like that." The fact that they provided a plausible answer to that put this head and shoulders above a lot of the comic pack comics.

It's resolute because resolute is a far more brutal universe than prime.

It was OK, but nothing great.
About the same as the other Joe one shot comics that have come out recently.

The only resolute link I saw was the new vest with the shoulder pads that the CG is given aboard the chopper.

I noticed that as well.

None of the "Resolute" comic books really had anything to do with Resolute. It's either because a) Hasbro just decided to slap the Resolute tag on these at the last minute to help promote it or b) because Larry Hama wasn't really granted access to the production material of Resolute.
They're all more or less set in the "Marvel" GIJoe universe Larry created.

It did remind me of the old Action Force comic where Baron Ironblood "trained" his Red Shadow recruits, though. That was pretty cool.
But yeah, adding another level on top of the CGs was kind of iffy, especially since thanks to Hasbro there's already Immortals, Commanders and Royal Guards.

So what are we looking at here as figures?

I can safely say I think one of the figures from this "could'a been" comic pack is a Resolute Cobra Trooper body (red) with a CG head.

The question is what was the second?  I would be dumbfounded if it was an Iron Klaw Trooper, but considering there was no other "character" in the comic, who else could it have been?  It might have been an interesting idea, and the execution might have been something to behold.  However I can't get the "extreme" show out of my head every time I see that head.

Looking at it closer, the Iron Klaw Trooper would probably have a new head and the shoulder pad/straps would be like most "add-ons" that could be removed.  The hands could be fully painted Viper (ugh I know), the body could be any number of characters, and the legs I can only think of HISS Drivers as a close facsimile.

That comic pack was pretty obviously intended to come with the "Iron Klaw Trooper".

Is it just me, or did the story seem like it ended too abruptly? I wonder it there is another page that's missing.
