Toy Fair '09: 25th 3/4 figures in seven figure packs
« on: February 15, 2009, 11:59:50 AM »

WTF.  No more single packs if I am reading this correct and this "might" be the last 25th classic look until the movie come out.

GI JOE: Assault on Cobra Island with Outback, Recondo, Zap, Chuckles, Hit & Run, Wetsuit and SPC Altitude (aka Ripcord)

Cobra: Defense of Cobra Island:  Dr. Mindbender, Ranger Viper, Alley Viper, Lampreys, Night Creeper, Strato Viper and damaged Cobra Bat

or

http://i.toynewsi.com/g/index.php?mode= ... sic+7+Pack

I want to see Wet Suit with his accessories to make a final judgement as this is the only figure I am luke warm on.

I can't be the only one who doesn't like the bastardization of Ripcord's name. All because of some dumbass in Hollywood didn't want to use Stalker's name.

If these are the last 25th style figures, then at least they're giving some good ones!  Mindbender, Chuckles, Zap, Outback...  all really awesome, to me.  Although it's a little dissapointing to see Lampreys...  I'd have hoped for him to come with a re-done Hydrofoil.

All 14 figures look amazing to me. I will pre-order them the moment I can. If this is the the final bow of the line (which I doubt anyway), they are going out in style.

I was a little disappointed to see them grouped together like this. What if you want to army/squad build one of those troops? You're going to end up with a ton of extras! I guess it's better than nothing. That's what message boards and ebay are for.

I was really looking forward to more Resolute stuff. I hope now that they're reshuffling stuff that we'll get at least one more single pack wave that is fully Resolute. A Baroness, Destro, Storm Shadow, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Roadblock and a re-release of the Trooper would be ideal. I know I'd buy a case of that.

I'm really interested in the Joe set. You can always rename Altitude when you open him to Ripcord. I saw that coming. They all look really great. I also like that they're all characters we don't have yet. No CC's, Destro's etc. Pretty cool there.

I don't like that they'll only be available online.

Wait, Altitude is Ripcord?  Damn, I had just started a Ripcord custom!  No need to finish it now.
The only ones I want are Mindbender, Zap, Chuckles, Outback, and Recondo.  And if Altitude's supposed to be Ripcord (and not this guy), I'd like him too.  I'd keep the Strato-Viper, and maybe a damaged BAT for the comics I make.

I don't give two smegs about the geni-Cobras, but I'm sure my friends will be more than willing to buy 'em off me.  Or, if they buy more than 1 pack to army-build, I'll just buy the ones I want off them!

I think all of these figurs look great, and I think I may have to purchase 5 or 6 of the cobra packs!
I will need to come up with some clever Mindbender customs.

- Any word on how/were these will be sold?
I really hope they are going to do regular retail!

Very nice selection.
Seems like the 25th line is going out with a bang.

I can't see them being exclusive to online.  Maybe the 7-packs will be, but they should see some sort of retail release.

After all, weren't the extreme-conditions sets supposed to be online only?  Now I see them in comic shops.

From the looks of the set we're getting the figures that were suppose to come with 2009 wave 2 vehicles.  So there is a chance we won't see those vehicles any time soon.

I love the Alley Viper and Mindbender.

There was a thing on Toy News International that mentioned that wave.   It's just put on hold 'til the movie line is out, I think.

I have a feeling they'll milk this line for all it's worth.  Movie line or no movie line, they'll keep putting out Joes as long as there's people willing to spend on nostalgia.
