Hi everyone
« on: April 03, 2010, 09:15:40 PM »

Hello all. I'm a new member to the site. I live just north of Pittsburgh, PA. (Go Pens and Crosby!) I've been a Joe fan and collector since around 1982. I had many of the original toys and read most of the comics. I stopped collecting in the 1990s and sold off most of my original stuff, only to start up again when my son got interested in GI Joe about 10 years ago.  To make a long story short, I've since purchased most of the 25th anniversary figures and toys, as well as some original ones I never had like the USS Flagg, Skystriker, Joe headquarters and the Terrordrome. I love the 25th figures the best because of their detail and articulation, but the old Joes still have a special place in my heart. I've enjoyed reading many of your posts since joining the group and appreciate everything you add to the discussions. I'd really like to attend the Joe Con in Toronto this year to see what it's like and to meet many of you. We visited Toronto last year for Labor Day weekend and got to see parts of a terrific air show. We also toured the beautiful city and saw The Killers in concert at the Molson Amphitheater. It was a very nice mini vacation and my whole family enjoyed it. My only regret was that although we passed several Toys R Us stores in Canada on our way home, they were all closed on Labor Day Monday so I didn't get to see what Canadian Joes were like. Maybe this year!

Welcome to the board, always nice to have another American on here.  We have to hold our own with our northern neighbors! :shifty:  I'm totally with ya on combining the classic vehicles with the sculpting, poseability, and detail of the 25th figures.

Thanks for the warm welcome. When we were in Toronto last year, we stopped at a Harvey's (sp?) for lunch on our way home. Any place that offers gravy with french fries is OK in my book. Next time we're up there I'll have to try some Timbits.

WAIT. You came to Canada and didn't try any timbits? I don't think they'll let you across the border again for that.... that's like a law up here or something. I'm sure of it.

I know, and it's not like I didn't have the chance to try them either, either. It seemed like there was a Tim Hortons every other block. At first I thought I must be lost and driving around in circles, because I kept seeing the same store everywhere. Is there a Tim Hortons close to the convention site?

Thanks for the list. I will check it out. That way, when the border guards ask if I have anything to declare, I can honestly say that I've tried the timbits.
