In 2032, it will be the 50th anniversary of the 3 3/4 Gi Joe (1982-2032) and the 25th anniversary of 25th line (2007-2032) :shifty:...[/li]
[li]etc.[/li][/list]
What do you think?

- It was a cool 2 years, but it didn't replace the 80's ...
That and it had nice retro packaging.

Yes, I also really appreciate the vintage art on fig card (not the Canadian one by the way... >:( ) and even the vehicules boxes. The fact that we can see the vehicule is one thing, but the art inside the box was pretty cool. Also, the idea of a filecard for each vehicle was pretty good.

Hmmm...speak for yourself on that one ;D I have no interest in o-ring figures anymore. Hopefully, the 25th Anniversary figures coupled with the movie(s) and Resolute will be remembered as restarting major interest in GI Joe and leading to some of the best figures and vehicles yet!

I'll remember it seriously abused parts reuse.
Removable webgear is fun and all but it really made Hasbro get lazy when it came to making new toolings.

I also like some... but not all. I was thinking what I will still like (or will be looking for) in 25 years:
For vehicles (no specific order):
- Black/Red HISS + HeetSeek (MMS): It makes a cheap SMS set
- Stinger jeep: already hard to find in 2009...!
- Firebat: It was pretty cool to get some without having to buy a Terrodrome :)
- AWE Striker: Not available outside USA
- ROC SNAKE: I think the black version is a huge hit
For figs (no specific order):
- Snake Eyes (black timber): still a hit since 1985... so his 25th ann. version shouldn't stop that
- EELS
- ParaTroopers (25th/ROC): great accessories
- Jet pack in general: 1 vintage fig had one, but the 25th made some figs with it (Duke, Stalker, Cobra Air trooper, etc.) but Grand slam... ???
You?

I rather say that by 2032, I'm hoping that both 80's ARAH and 25th line will be remembered as the two canons that contributed to the good reputation that the 3 3/4 inch line now enjoys. It's been shown and proven over and over again that anything related to ARAH, if rendered properly with respects to its popular icons, has strong potential to remain a timeless HIT. God willing, our future generations will get to celebrate the 100th anniversary of GI JOE.
I think one thing I will always remember ARAH for is its strong array of vehicles that no revival was able to possibly resurrect in its full splendor, not even the 25th line, and I don't see it happening, ever (in my living days that is :)). I'm not beeing pessimistic here, it's just the way the Industry has evolved that leads me to say this.
While the 25th line did have some beautiful window boxes that let us admire the vehicles, the original ARAH vehicle packages had great art, AND, if you do remember as a kid, enjoying opening the boxes, to find an instruction manual telling you how to snap the pieces off the plastic trees they often came attached to and put them altogether, then you know what I'm talking about. Agreed, this was perhaps at the same time, a very tedious routine for the one that expected to play right away with his toy. But beeing a long time Lego fan, and puzzle games kid, this is the feature I feel more nostalgic about when I think about GI JOE and that the 25th line doesn't communicate to me.
I have nothing to say against the 25th figures' accessories, features and articulations. It clearly marked a new step in GI JOE history and announced the debut of the new standards to come. Way to go Joe!

I just hope by then I still remember to put on pants.

Come on you will be just below 65... oh you are right, that's old

Well, if you can still remember what pants are by 65, then there is still time for salvation. You have a Nintendo DSi right? With some Brain age game exercise until then Pdaat, I garrantee that you will still be wearing pants in your coffin, that is, by the time we get to celebrate the 100th 3.75 inch line anniversary.

In 25 years from the 25th Anniversary and RoC lines I'll probably still be very fond of:
Figures
Iron Grenadiers
Resolute Cobra Troopers
City Strike Snake Eyes
Resolute Duke (bc he looks like me)
Vehicles
VAMP & Stinger (I love all the VAMP variants)
Rattler & Conquest (my first opportunity to own them & I was not disappointed)
Steel Crusher
Stuff I Definitely WON'T Miss
Red Fang Ninja
Mole Pod
Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and/or Neo-Vipers in every multipack
Hasbro taking 10 variations before finally making the perfect figure (25th HoH Storm Shadow)
-
The figures will most likely be made of cheaper plastic with the guns that do not fit in the hand andor do nto stay up when do you do manage to get the gun in the hand. but they will look nice in the package!
-
What do you think people will remember about our current 25th Gi Joes:
- Cheaper plastic
- Harder to make the figs hold their guns
- Harder to find those toys
- etc.
Martin
I don't think they are harder to find.... The number of hours I spent in Zellers, Toys R Us and the Bay looking for 1984 Stormshadow and 1985 Snake Eyes is depressing (finally found both, and still have them!).
I have heard the part about not holding guns as well, but I think the main one will be:
NOT BREAKING AS EASILY (Zap thumbs, Duke/Law/Dusty crotch, etc.)

I remember the HUGE feeling of nostalgia when I saw the 25th Stalker the first time in that great retro packaging - and I never even got Stalker as a single pack back in the day. All my 25th guys stil have their crotches, which is nice. Hall of Heroes was disappointing - not worth what they were charging and hard to find.
-
Both lines have their flaws, the "classic" line had O-Rings breaking, thumbs breaking, crotches breaking. The "modern" line doesn't have any of those problems, but they can't hold weapons very good, its harder to make customs (I've wrecked a Lady Jaye and Cover Girl torso try to crack them apart)and the amount of repaints is annoying. But in 22 years we'll probably look back on them fondly like we do with the O-Ring ones. By then they might have a whole new mold and the next generation will complain about them like we did when the 25th came out.

Very interesting thread. Personally, i will remember more figures than vehicles. For me, vehicles are just the same with minimal improvement. 25th Figures display better than original and details are great but nothing will replace the originals. We got tons of figures in two years, most repaint, but in the 80', we got news and differents figures each years and figures was more playable.
In 25 years, i will remember:
My great display of Cobra soldiers (who's always fall down if i touch them) :(
The re-use of vintage packaging ;D
Figures was easy to find.......online
The pleasure i had when i opened my first 25th figures. :o
...and all good times i played with my Gijoes 50 years ago!
-
Thanks everyone for all your input. I didn't realize many of you really like the new scuplt that much. But I guess no fig era is perfect (80's Vs. 25th) and to each his own...

I'll remember the 25th-RoC in 2032 as I'll probably be looking for a lost cobra trooper stuck in the couch after a nice afternoon of playing ;D
For me, they're a nice evolution of my favorite toy.
-
I will remember that aside from ARAH the Dreadnoks will always get screwed over.

This thread generated a lot of good posts. There seems to be a lot of love for the 25th. I know joe has existed in a variety of different formats from 12" origins to rise of cobra. But for me, "G.I.Joe" means that awesome toy line I loved as a kid that went from 1982 to 1994. As far as I'm concerned, the 25th is also that. It's the 82 to 94 line all over again, my second chance at doing it again. How awesome! Thank you, Lord!
