Any signs of wave 9 (2k8 wave 5) yet?
« on: July 02, 2008, 01:13:31 PM »

This wave more than any other wave I'm waiting for.  My favourite Joe, my favourite army builder, my definitative General Hawk, another popular army builder and finally one more guy to flesh out the class of 1985!!!!

Our neighbours to the south have been getting them in now and so far I've had no luck...

June-29 - Wal*Mart - nothing
June-30 - Wal*Mart - nothing, TRU - loads of wave 7/8
July-1 - Super Wal*Mart - nothing

Heading over to Buffalo on July-12 but not holding my breath because New York state always gets things last.

I imagine we'll see them towards the end of July or beginning of August.

I'll be heading into NY this month, too...  over to Watertown to hit up the Target store in a few weeks.  Here's hoping I can snag a few cool ones.

yikes! end of July sound so far away (yeah I know it's only 4 weeks more) but I think wave 7 & 8 Canadian card release was pretty close to America's wave 7 & 8 releases - just hoping this stays true with wave 9.

damn important wave!

The last two waves have been next to impossible to find.
I never did find a complete set of either in Canada - if wave 9 does show up, I hope it is in greater number.

7 has been my hardest.  I lucked out with a Snake Eyes, but had to go state-side for the rest.  8 has been around here a lot, but there are other collectors in the area...  they've been rare, but around.  I'll post when I find more, see if I can help anyone complete a set.

any reports from Wal*Mart or TRU yet?  I've been checking eBay (usually a good indicator if product has arrived) but no Canadian carded wave 9s as yet.

Tried calling Wal*Mart this morning but of course no one is there to pick up in the toy section.

Are we really scheduled to get this wave at the end of July?

I just stopped into my local Wally Mart.  Nothing.  and the "aisle girl" said she's not expecting any new shipments of GI Joe (usually, they're pretty on the ball, so I trust that)

I'd say that we're set for the end of July.  we MIGHT get lucky with it earlier...  but remember, any earlier than "late July" is pretty much next week.  We'll see them soon.

July 14 - update

Went to Buffalo over the weekend for some outlet mall shopping:

Target - just across the border (Interstate 190 S?) - quite a few wave 7 & 8 cards

TRU - about 10 mins nearby - loads of red ninja 5-packs, night trooper 5-packs, 12" wave 1 Joes, and all comic packs up to wave 3

KB Toys - at some famous outlet mall in Amherst? - a few VvV cards

Wal*Mart - in Buffalo city - loads of wave 7 & 8 again, 12" wave 1 Joes, and all comic packs including wave 4

And just hit Wal*Mart at lunch today - nada

I just broke down and bought a set of wave 9 off eBay - this waiting was too much.
