well I dont know if Mike was on to some insider info or not but I had the day off today so I had planned to do some toy hunting anyways.

Let me tell you, I've just come home after being on the road since 9AM and I'm |<--this-->| close to calling it quits on toy hunting and just bite the bullet and order everything from eBay.

Markville Mall Wal*Mart - had wave 9 - yes they frakkin had wave 9!!!!  But someone already wiped them out.  I strongly suspect it was another collector because strategically 2 x Ninja Ku, 2 x Torpedo, and 2 x Wild Bill were the only things left!!!!  Another interesting note was that they were all on American cards.

So I got excited, yeah I didn't get anything but hell wave 9 arrived on Friday so...

Drove all the way to Pickering Wal*Mart (Pete the Greek territory) - saw two empty 25A pegs

Doubled back to Morningside Wal*Mart - saw no pegs

Stopped off at Scarborough Town Centre - again saw no pegs

Drove back up all the way to Stouville Super Wal*Mart - saw one empty peg

- ALL of this if frakkin traffic - when did the GTA get so many damn cars?

Am I frustrated?  yeah just a tad.

I knew this wave would be a Collector's wet dream and I don't think I can handle the driving around for it either.

I had no luck.  Granted I didn't go as intensely as Bandalero...

Super-Walmart in Orleans had nothing - just an empty peg.
the mall Toys "R" Us had nothing - just a few empty pegs for the singles and comic packs.
Zellers I visited had nothing - just a 25th ann. peg that had been taken over by Transformers and a "Toy placement map" that indicated where the singles and comic packs would have or maybe will go.

Disappointing... I'll probably end up snagging one or two off ebay, eventually - if I can't find them when I take a trip south

Well, I got lucky this am. My wife wanted to do some running around, and we headed out early. We were going right by the Walmart anyway, so I stopped and ran in.

They *just* put out a case of wave 9.

Cases consist of:

1 x BAT
1 x Snow Serpent
1 x Ninja Ku
1 x Bazooka
1 x Barbecue
1 x Gen. Hawk
1 x Wild Bill
1 x Torpedo

So no extras of BAT or Snow Serpent in the cases. No doubt those figures will be the tough ones to get.

Nice!  Was that a Super-centre or an old-style Walmart?

I didn't see any, this morning...  but I'm going to look again on Monday.  Here's hoping they're getting them out to everyone, this week

Regular Walmart. No supercenters in my area.

Awesome - I find Supercentres get more or different stock than regular Walmarts.  So if regular Walmart has some out, hopefully the regular one by my place will have them tomorrow!  I hope...

glutton for punishment.

I passed by my local Wal*Mart today and as I'm pulling into the parking lot, a thin white dude is looking for his car - what made him the centre of my attention was his camouflage T-shirt with a big "G.I. Joe" logo across it. Now he could be a regular joe who's into retro/vintage T-shirts, or (more likely) he's a collector like me.  Anyways, his hands were empty so I wasn't keeping my hopes up.

To make a long story short, there was only 1 x Wild Bill today.  Over the last 48 hrs the 2 x Ninja Ku, 2 x Torpedo and 1 x Wild Bill were sold.  There's definitely more collectors in my area than I once thought.

This is what I dont get, there's obviously a market for the G.I. Joe brand - so why does a big box store like Wal*Mart only dedicate 1 or 2 pegs of shelf space for it?  Meanwhile Indian Jones, Hulk, Iron Man, Jakks WWE, TMNT, and god aweful Power Rangers takes up massive retail space!!!  The Hulk movie came and went and I still see the same tired old stock on the shelf - it doesn't move.  Yet the 2 cases of G.I. Joe sells out in 48 hrs garaunteed.

When will the big boxes cut Hasbro some slack and give em more shelf space?

Wave 9 was in Oshawa.  All I found was a Storm Shadow Ninja Ku pack late Friday night.  The other two Wal-Marts in my area had none of the wave 9.

I know where your coming from.  I hate seeing the same toys, especially fucking shitty Power Rangers, on shelves that do not seem to move.  However, G.I. JOE would fall under the same trap if there was a ton more on shelves.  Right now, the line is collector driven.  There is a market for G.I. JOE but it's not big as we all think.
