Toys R Us Sale
« on: July 11, 2009, 01:20:39 PM »

I walked into my local store at 11am this morning expecting to see lots of people buying up the Movie Joes.  No one was around the display and it seemed to be relatively untouched.  Bought Baroness, Destro, Shipwreck, Neo-Viper, Commando Viper, and Scrap Iron on the Ferret.  How has the sale been going in other cities?

I saw a few kids milling about the display in London, but that was about it.  Not that what I saw was a whole lot different for Transformers.

I'm sure sales will pick up a little more once the movie comes out...

But I have a feeling that the days of crazy-popular movie-line toys are over.  It's just not what kids want, anymore.

Note to everyone that Walmart and Zellers will price match this flier. So if your TRU has a limited selection, you might be able to get a decent price on the ones you find at other stores.

Toys R Us in London was totally picked over, but I was able to easily get the discount on my full price purchase from last week so it was worth going in. I also got the Panther and four wheeler with Acrap Iron. Even at 30 percent off these toys seem a bit highly priced.

Best news will hopefully be that since TRU has moved hundreds of these ROC toys already, they will stock the next assortments. If they restock with the same assortments as before they'll be doomed.

Sadly around my parts, TRU is at least a wave ahead of Zellers, and Wal*mart. But they all seem to be selling well.

Thanks for the tips guys.  I visited a TRU, two Zellers and two Walmart with my TRU flier.  Zellers had tons of figures and they gave me the same price as TRU.  I bought a total of 15 figures at 6.97$.  Not bad

TRU at Markville Mall here in Markham has a large island display and a small bit of overstock in one of the aisles, which is great to see.  But for the two days I went to take advantage of the sale (2 x dessert duke, stone, shipwreck) the shelves still looked solidly packed.  I'm thinking they may have overordered from Hasbro?  What's a little nerve racking is that there were at least 20 boxed Cobra Night Chickens-err-Ravens on the shelves.

I think the sale ends on the 23, I'll go back this weekend to see the damage.

I have no doubt that TRU over ordered.  My local TRU was getting pretty bare from the sale, but I have no doubt that they will be fully restocked this weekend.

Have any of you guys seen the Ice Dagger yet? I haven't found it at TRU or any other store carrying ROC stuff.
