S.A.F. Helicopter w/Blades $28. Only $28?!?!

Damn. I would buy that in a heart beat. If I had only known what the exclussives were going to be I would have tried to find a contact and sent some money. Is there any chance at all you could pick one of those up for a fellow Canuck? I know it's a long shot but you can't blame a guy for asking.

Pricing was a little crazy.  To get one of each exclusive (not counting SDCC) was about $235 after tax!!

Here are a couple pics as promised.  I will upload more this afternoon after they open the dealer room.

The attendee exclusive FANG repaint.

Ok.  Just watched parChute drop.  Here is the panel update.

Kirk & Greg from hasbro (original 80s team).

Kirk talked about early 90s and all the aborted movie attempts. (live action)

- 1992 saw two attempted scripts a few months apart.  Second script basically added to first and changed a few points.  Lots of recognizable characters.

- funny note.  First script had all realistic vehicles except for the Cobra Pogo?!!
- later movie would have had planned toys for Pitt, new Terrordrome and flying fortress.
- new terrordrome would have had trees that turned into cannons?!
- last script in 94 would have had no recognizable Joes.
- idea was knights of round table. Keep getting reincarnated into new generations of teams.  Ie: Texas rangers, ww2 soldiers, near future Joe team?!  Needless to say it was a quickly crushed idea.

Greg
- Heavy Metal was based on him.
- ideas started in 1980
- used "rough truck" line as a basis to start on Joe line vehicles
- line was codename "Blast Off" before offical GI Joe
- responsible for Hal, Wolverine, Jump early on
- military model kits/parts influenced early designs
-APC originally didn't have a gun.  Like many toys, final features added during presentation meetings
- tomahawk went through about 20-25 design sketches before final design
- JUST SAW LARRY HAMA!!
- Mauler was born out of rough trucks designs
- unmade toys shown: Swedish based bomber jet, another Hammer with Equalizer turret/missile rack, Joe battle train
- Swedish jet was based on Vigen??!  Had intrnal bomb bay that could really drop bombs and "turkey feathered engine" that would close up to simulate afterburn
- train was last "big" toy attempt, but line was shrinking. And too costly.
- would have actually worked on track and was meant to be a compliment to a Cobra mountain playset.
- would have circled cobra mountain on the track and fought each other.
- caboose his a scout car, tanker opened into missile launcher, thunderclaps stupendous cannon and then engine
- USS Flagg was originally ten feet long and bridge tower couldn't be removed
- again presentation meeting shortened it and made bridge removable
- stated by Kirk that inital molding for train was $250,000 to get production

Just saw someone with a HATE set!!

I have pics of the toys to post later, so be patient

I'd rather not go over $20 US but if it's only a couple bucks more, I can work with it.

That said if somebody sells then for less (i doubt it, but have to put it out there) than if $25 gets me multiples then go ahead.

Of course I'll throw a couple bucks on top of that to cover shipping if you are successful.

Tell the guy with the HATE set they have great taste.

Last night I bought one off ebay for $12.99 plus $5.00 shipping. That seemed fair to me. Baroness and the Twins are going for a bit more right now.

I just wish the club would have posted the extra figures and cost up front. I've been one of the loudest voices on the MC board for about the past 4 years about how they need to make more foreign figures and they make them as the extra stuff. Man, if I had only known. I'm so ticked off right now it's not funny.

I don't expect those to go for a fair price on ebay.

Hasbro panel update!!!!!  Pics around 6pm

- post movie theme is "Pursuit of Cobra"
- focus on four themes: desert, arctic, jungle, city
- 25 new figs/10 new vehicles for 2010

- Arctic Destro w/ water shooting backpack, ice shards and "frosted" helmet
- Elite Ice Viper basically more red
- jungle SS.  Resolute body with flying squirrel type pack springs open
- desert Zartan.  AWESOME fig.  Comes with falcon on walking stick very resolute looking ( hood etc) machetes, GI Joe vest and alternate Joe head.  Falcon has removable hood, probably smallest accessory ever
- desert Ripcord w/flying Delta 6 suit.  Sort of bat wing look
- arctic SE.  Comeswith mountaineering gear and timber
- jungle Duke.  Think of Predator movie type look.  Bandana head
- jungle CC basically same with some colour diff. and new short coat
- jungle viper!?  Comes with large sniper rifle and sort of Archangel type wings wait for pic
- Recondo green color
- city Scarlett.  Resolute body w/resolute jet pack, oxygen mask and forearm blades

- Sand Serpent w/Star Viper (new helmet) Night Raven repaint
- new CC with red scheme will be mail away fig.  It will come on thefirst ever Cobra card rather than Joe card.  Card will be primarily red.  Comes with little red HISS drone that can attach as a weapon for.......

NEW Bravo class HISS Tank.  Very similar to Resolute HISS with moving treAds missile launcher and Gatling gun.  Turet can elevate and rotate and "pop up" to twice the height.  Driver enters from lowered base of canopy ala Night Raven and gunner has similar feature

Just some thoughts.

- I have better pics on my Iphone of the vehicles, so I will get them on as soon as I can, same for the figures.

- The Sand Serpent (Night Raven repaint) is actually pretty sweet in person.
- The Cobra Ice Cutter is unique, but ultimately I think it is an easy pass.  It is Alpha size
- The Cycly Armor is VERY reminiscent of the Robotech Cyclon armor.  It is really sweet looking.  Alpha class price point.
- The HISS Attack Scout is basically the treads of the new Bravo class HISS with a little weapon attached and the driver right down the middle.  Not a very attractive mold.

- The JUNGLE VIPER is basically a Night Viper from ARAH with green Archangel (Xmen) type wings and one HUMONGOUS sniper rifle that can be dismantled into parts.

If you can find the pics tonight (I know, like that will be a problem), take a look at the figures, they are SWEET!!!!  Hasbro really went all out for the 2010 line.

Right now Zartan and Jungle Viper are my favourites!!

As of 4pm only the S.A.F. w/Blades exclusive had sold out.

I'm not sure about the others, but I would hazard a guess that price is what is keeping them from already being sold out.

Also, it was mentioned that the JOE "planes" in the movie were called "Howlers" in case you were wondering.

The treads on the new HISS just make me think of the robot from Lost in Space (Movie)

That Jungle Viper looks like pure bad-ass.

Is CC's flag cloth or plastic?

I believe the flag (a cobra emblem with side tassles) is all plastic.   I also asked about the HISS drone and was told the final colour will more closely mtach the red on CC.

He was walking by with it under his arm while I was writing a post.  I've seen him around since but not the set.  I haven't seen the set on sale at any table.

I do have to say that the dealer room is pretty sparse this year.

Thanks for all the effort "canprime".  Can you confirm the number of figures and vehicles planned for 2010?  I read somewhere that it is 45 figures and 15 vehicles, but you had said 25 figures and 10 vehicles.  Not sure which is accurate.

Morgadee don't be too upset about the International figures.  They would have been a lot better if they were the old O-ring style.

I could live with it being a lot less than this year's output. I've already spent 300 dollars or more on ROC and barely anything but the earliest stuff is out yet. OCD doesn't allow me to just pass on things if I even remotely want them, see. Ah well, it's fun. Expensive, but fun.

IDA comic panel:

Upcoming origins: Baroness, Beachhead (explains why he has amnesia), Snow Job (in Venezuela?) and a seperate special on the twins.

GI Joe: Cobra volume two in Jan.  First issue cover has Chuckles in jail cell.

New Hama silent SE issue coming.  From pics it seems to be called Mute Testimony.  Unique in that Larry drew all the issue instead of writing it for the artist whose is going to officially draw it.

Operation HISS is 5 issue miniseries follow up to ROC movie.

Ray park approached IDW to write a movie SE miniseries.  Will be out soon.  Co-writer is Kevin VanHook (friend of Park).  He is an established comic writer.

No TF/Joe crossover in foreseeable future (directly from Hasbro rep)

Hama claims original Special Missions books were pain in neck to do because everything was condensed into one issue.

According to Larry, original silent issue took 2 1/2 weeks to do which is really fast.
The letterer for that issue did only the title and credits, but was paid for the whole book.

Finally Hama's fastest book ever was "James Bond: For Your Eyes Only" adaptation.  From absolutely nothing to finished completely for printing: 7 Days!!

Just a quick update on Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty).

He had some great stories about filming, but overall he came across as a wondeful, boisterous, and extremely charming guy.  Tons of energy!!

Line of the panel:  Someone asked his favourite: Baroness, Scarlett or Covergirl.

His answer (in a fun way):  "there's Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and I'll get back to you on Saturday."

IDW comic panel:

GI Joe: Cobra volume two in Jan.  First issue cover has Chuckles in jail cell.

So awesome!  Can't wait for that one.  Thanks for the info!

Sounds like there's going to be some kick-butt comics coming up

Collector's Club panel:

Beginning of this year Hasbro told them they were destroying most o ring molds in Asia due to age, rust and storage cost.  Club was able to make a list of what they would like to see kept.  However that is a small list and many molds are now gone.  It was apparently cheaper to make new molds rather than refurbish old molds.  So no guarantee on next con set (25th or ARAH)

Club membership exclusive fig for 2010 is ARAH Big Lob (that is not a joke).

M.A.N.T.A. Squad is next M.O.T.H. Type sets.  First two pack is repainted Hydro Vipers.  Second set is underwater demolitions diver.  Similar in idea to 25th Cobra divers.  ARAH Eel molds are gone.

REALLY different direction coming up.

Club exclusive sets of Adventure Team using 25th molds!
4 possible sets:
- first set w/FANG copter in adventure team yellow (I have a pic of this).  The FANGs are already made so set 1 is a guarantee.  Comes with one fig I think
- second set comes with 2 guys (orange &jungle green suits) and monster Venus Fly Trap [already made]
- third set is one figure with 6 wheels vehicle from spy troops painted adventure team yellow
- possible fourth set would be blue figure with white/grey Mantis sub repaint.

So the Adventure Team figures wont be sold separately?
They will all come with a vehicle?

Still I'll buy them all, finally an AT collection in 3 3/4"

Sorry forgot to mention.

Toynewsi.com has really great shots of the Adventure Team (3 3/4") Club exclusives under their Joe coverage.

I was too far back to get screen shots clearly, but they have really good shots.

Thanks for the updates.  But I have a overall meh feeling about most of the new stuff being released.  It's most the same new movie characters over and over again.

Yeah. I found that out this morning. I always liked having the option for two conventions to visit. That doesn't help promote the G.I. Joe name across the globe when one event tries to over shadow another. Think about it. We've had a guy from Australia fly up to the Canadian meet two years ago and this past year our HATE pics were in Japan. It only helps G.I. Joe as a whole to have both events. It's not like Jooe Canuck does it for the money. We do it for the love of G.I. Joe. If it was meant to be a money maker event then we wouldn't be doing it.

Plus that means the MC con will be before comic con. I guess they aren't worried about selling left over comic con toys next year.

All it does is give me a chance to have our Canadian con in a warmer month - and promote it at the U.S. JoeCon.

The guy on the left is Troy. He's about as enthusiastic a collector as you will find, and a good guy to boot. It was his HATE set that was on display.

Hey Guys,

Just got home to Toronto about an hour ago.

It was a lot of fun, but I have to agree about the convention date.  It completely turned me off of posting anymore about the Con.

If you guys want a wrap up, let me know and I'll post one.

As to coincidence or not about next year, I'll keep it to myself, but I know where I stand.
