Thanks for Everything!  The Q and A about the Joe Con was Fantastic!  It is a real eye opener to find out all the hard work it takes to make this all happen!  The other Q & A's were great as well plus to see and speak with Ron Rudat was awesome!

All the Dealers had so many great deals, as usuall I left the Con out of money!  Now to go through all my loot!

A Special thanks to all the Canuckleheads I was able to meet, I had a great time talking to all of you!

Thanks to all involved for contributing to an excellent day.

Greatest Fathers Day Ever......

My kids woke me up with Breakfast in bed,  then when we were finished they said DADDY COME DOEN STAIRS AND PLAY WITH ALL THE NEW GI JOE STUFF WE GOT YESTERDAY!  can't ask for anything else!

Thanx to everyone who made this years Canadian GI Joe Convention happen.  My son and I dragged my wife and daughter out this year and it was fun for the whole family.  Thanx to all the dealers who had more than great deals.  I think we lined up at HJL more than a few times as we kept finding cool stuff we needed (wanted).  Its amazing how great all the Organizers/Dealers were with my kids!

A great job by all who set up and contributed to the con!

Good to meet a few new faces and see some familiar ones too!  Fine guests as well.

Special thanks to Hasbro (for bringing Stalker), xhairs, Bandanov, and anyone else who let me hang with them!  And yeah - and Deadshot too!

Thanks to  everyone that  came by  and  stopped at my tables, either to talk or to buy. ( My closet lost weight and is happy)  I had lots of  fun this year at the show.  The  Friday night was great  and thanks to Radio Guy I even got to sleep for a couple of hours.  Thanks to Realboss for  covering my tables  while I was away from them.

Thanks to Pdaat  for the beer on Friday too.

hope to see you all  next year

I would like to thanks the organizers, guests, all the my fellow collectors and dealers who I traded with conversated with, bought stuff off of and sold stuff to for   making the show great. I would also like to thank everyone for making the show a great one for a friend of mine who had never attended any convention or show before. He had a blast. The guests we had where great and I got to show them my art work and asked for pointers to improve which they gave. I just watched code name blast off and it was great hearing the history of the 1980's G I Joes from the people who made them. I also like how people bring their kids and get them into the hobby in the past it was dad buying themself stuff and telling the kids no. Now I see the kids getting stuff like old tanks and new ones to take home and play with.

Thanks a million for holding this guys!  This was the first one I've been to and loved every minute of it!  You really put on a great show.  It was awesome to hear from the guests and I think my favorite part was the Q&A with the staff at the end.  I liked to hear how this came about and the progression of it.

Keep up the great work and hopefully I can get to this side of the country again to go next year.  The atmosphere was super friendly.  I'd also like to say thanks to brandonov for trading with me.  Much appreciated brotha'!

Sincerely,

Xhair's friend

I remember last year in the line... some people were stressed, all had no sleep and everybody wanted to be in the first 50 to get the SNAKE. That was an experience, but maybe not the more fun to prepare the Saturday.

This year, with the preorder system, and the number of sets increased to 125, and the distribution of wrist band during the night, Saturday morning people were fresh and relaxed! There was somehow a "line" but people didn't care who was first because all knew they would have their set. People had a good night (except for some who shared their room with a snorer   ) and this help a lot, I will talk for me, to benefit more of my Saturday con show.

Thanks for creating this preorder system and for the cool day!!

Martin

Good call, thanks to the Joe wives for be such gracious hosts. The show was awesome. The people were awesome. The Timbits were delicious. There were deals to be had everywhere. If I had one complaint it is that there wasn't enough wave 4, 5 and 6 for sale, but I guess even dealers are having trouble tracking down those waves.

Big bonus thanks to the CJC committee and Hasbro Canada. Both were super friendly and made the show even more memorable.

I have to go next year just to see if Jon S. wins another prize.

Here's a little write up and link to the pics I took on JoeCustoms. http://www.joecustoms.com/forums/viewto ... 54&t=29500 (http://www.joecustoms.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=29500)

Another great year!

Although the list of stuff I look for keeps shrinking, I always manage to cross off a few items and find stuff that I didn't even know I wanted.

Nice to finally meet Sh4rk and Bandonov in person. Good to see Michael from the US again too. De Landro was great to meet and I got an awesome panel from him.

Thanks to everyone who had a hand in the day!

IMO, the convention went by fast.  You Quebecers need to stick around after the show as I hardly talked to any of you.

At least, my wife got her first taste of the convention.  She came after the convention died down by mid-afternoon.   I think she was more into the babies at the show.  :shifty:

A GREAT CON THIS YEAR!!!

Big thanks to the guys who set this all up.  You do a lot of hard work.  I can imagine it is an entire year of work, for one day.  But it is greatly appreciated by all the Joe fans here.

Unfortunately I couldn't stay the whole day.  We had a wedding to go to in the afternoon, and it was an hour drive back home to be there by 3.

I got to meet several board members, but not enough.  Next year I plan on getting a room (hopefully it's at the Sheraton again) so I can do the meet N greet thing, and catch all the panels.

The pre-register is awesome (don't get rid of that idea).  I felt bad for the people waiting in line, since I got to walk right in at 9:15, but it was only a couple minutes later and I saw people from the line coming in.

I love the patch.  That was a total surprise and proudly sits in an album with my steel brigade patch.

A big thanks to the special guests as well.  It was a real pleasure talking to Mark Bellomo, Valentine DeLandro, Ron and Tristan Rudat, and Jason Edmiston.  Unfortunately I didn't have time to talk to James Kavanaugh or Jason Loo  :'( , hopefully they will be back next year (My wife had a long conversation with Virginia Rudat, and she gave my wife some very creative ideas for her stained glass hobby, and gave her some ideas about turning her hobby into sales. - Wife of SnowHawk makes stain glass G.I. Joe and Cobra logos.).

+1 Timbit to the entire Convention (if possible) and can't wait until next year.

A big THANK-YOU to everyone who contributed to the success of the Con - organizers, dealers, special guests, attendees and the volunteers!  The whole event was outstanding and everyone was very friendly.  Every year I meet a few more Board members and this year was no exception.  The pre-registration and wrist bands really helped the line move faster, definitely keep up the good work with that!  Already looking forward to next year!

I'd like to thank Mike, Scramble, Loop and all the CJC staff and volunteers who made this one awesome convention!  Thank you!  There just wasn't enough time for me to enjoy it all (I had to leave early again) and I can't wait until next year's con.

A small Quebec group including myself went to go eat at Montana's around 4pm. And I had a little part in it but I assure you that it wasn't intentional, collectively at the very least. Our angry stomachs kind of concluded for us that it was time to eat so it couldn't be helped.

As for the Convention itself, It was by far the best Convention I have ever attended. Credits go to the CJC for making the friday evening late-bird a very very awesome one. It allowed me to make the trades, purchases I needed to do before Saturday and I was able to relax more by helping others and attending as many panels as I could.

My personal thanks go the Great White 5h4rk and Spectre, who were very cool to offer me a ride to Toronto and share the room with them for Friday night. If Timbits were still here, I'd give them 10 each  ;D (if they come back on, I will do this guys seriously so watch out). For those who don't know Spectre, he is probably the biggest O-ring fan that I know on this plane of existence. I thought I was an O-ring fan, but he makes me look like a hair rubber band enthusiast

Thanks CJC team for making this event a great one again. The guests were so welcoming as only one can expect from this great convention. My only regret is missing the 2011 CJC panel. Agent Loop told me so much about it, that when came time for it, I completely forgot in order to go back to my room and prepare my luggage. I guess that it's not that bad as I always have next year to look forward to ask my questions.

And a big round of applause to the dealers. I did a tour and I did find that alot had overall great prices and selection this year. Please keep it up. It's always great to be where everybody knows your name too. As soon as I walked into the dealer room, I got a very happy "Latinjoe!" coming from the tables facing to the left of the doorway. I was very pleased to see a smiley Condor Knight who was holding two big surprise bags for me.

There was probably more great things I'd like to say about the con, but I know that others already covered it. Thanks again CJC.

No worries.  I read that there was something in Montreal the next day.

End up at Montana's 2.5 hours later.  Wasn't impressed with the place, considering they set the thermostat to arctic blast.  I normally don't get cold but that was ridiculous.

Thanks again for the CJC crew for putting on a great show. Definitely appreciate the time and resources to make this all happen.

I didn't pick up too many things this year, but just to see all the familiar faces and having a chance to catch up or at least small talk with most was worth the trip. It was a busy day indeed, so apologies if we couldn't chat longer.

It was great to be able to meet and speak with Mr. Rudat, pick up James' book and some artwork from Loop.

The Quebec crew did get together for dinner as stated earlier.

I know the CJC crew also went to dinner as well, but I didn't want to feel as if I was intruding, since I'm sure you all had a long day and probably wanted to reflect up on it. So, I just said my thanks and goodbyes.

I didn't make it to the con but it sounds like fun was had by all. I've not seen a full rundown of the event, but from the snippets here and the whatsonjoemind podcast I've gotten a bit of a sense of how things were. Sounds like a couple of pretty good highlights. The only thing i noticed was the folks in line were rather disapointing based on the podcast. Granted I think it was 4am, but geeze, I thought there would have been more enthsiasm from folks. Perhaps the preorder took a little away from that with some of the die hards not needing to be in line, but at the same time, it sounds like the preorder worked beautifully. Definitely a good thing, I hope they continue it next year.

Sounds like the guests were really good hasbro canada stepped up really nicely with their presence. Anyways, thanks for the bits of info. Sounds like it was fun.

PS, it seems like the skystriker that someone won might be up on ebay.  :o

The first few people in line were scalpers (OK - mostly likely scalpers or the nicest parents-big brothers ever).   Thank goodness there were a few true fans there.

And yeah - I have seen the Skystriker.  So much for it being a good thing that kids won the prizes (or at least some).

I usually don't have a problem with people putting the stuff they won or sets on ebay as people do need to make money to fund their own hobby, but it does leave a sour taste as I felt that the kid winning it was a feel good story.  If the father won it with his ticket and sold it I wouldn't have that feeling, but knowing it was in the hands of the kid and then taken away makes me feel sad as the kid seemed genuinely joyous...hopefully the father compensated the kid well.

The guy wrote on the listing "My son won it at a trade show and wants to sell it".  He could have had the descency and mention CanJoeCon in the listing.

It is a shame that a "real" G.I. Joe fan didn't win the Sky Striker.  I don't think it was Hasbro's intention to donate it, to wind up on Ebay a week later.

But a big thank you should to Hasbro for donating the Sky Striker.  It is a shame it had to end up on Ebay.  Hopefully the winning bid will greatly appreciate it.

I'd sooner of had seen Jon win it instead.

I'd sooner have seen pdaat win it. ;)

Why thank you sir!  Where's that +1 Timbit button?

And yeah - I have seen the Skystriker.  So much for it being a good thing that kids won the prizes (or at least some).

For some reason that really disappoints me. But then again, I'm having trouble believing that a kid would want to sell a Skystriker.

Agreed.  So much for that good feel story.  I will have less sympathy for kids winning next year if this keeps up.

I like to thank everyone who was apart of this years con.

I have never seen sooooo many familiar faces and new faces to put with the code names.

As someone who didn't win any prizes, I'm naturally disappointed to see the Skystriker go up on ebay. Most Joe fans I know would have loved to be the first to own it and would never have thought of selling. I just hope Hasbro Canada doesn't reconsider being so generous next year because of this. (By the way, I was really impressed with Hasbro Canada's generosity and genuine interest in hearing from the fans.)
On a brighter note, many thanks go out to CanPrime for the great trade he gave me. And the dealers were all nice to do business with. The entire con was wonderful and THE MIKE and his gang should all be very proud of how everything turned out. So only about 50 weeks until the next con, right?

Back to the props - I'd like to add one other thing:

Perhaps the biggest highlight for me at the show overall (and I am ashamed that I seemed to have failed to mention it until now) was getting my Con set from Mike.  I came in to T.O. around 10pm.  I think I saw Mike around midnight in the lobby.  No sooner did he see then did he turn around and leave.  2 minutes later and THE MAN returned with my con set and tee.  Truly awesome - really, words cannot express.

Anywho, I'd like to also thank those who travelled much further than I to attend.  And to What's on Joe Mind for promoting the Con.

And to all Joe fans.

To all those expressing their disappointment towards the Skystriker: It should not matter after you all get your own. If the skystriker there were giving out was a unique prototype of some kind, then yes, I'd be all tears over the fact that it went on Ebay. In the end, it was just another Skystriker, and perhaps a little more importantly than that, the fact that you'd be holding one in your hands before anyone else, nothing more.

EDIT: and to get back on topic, I'd like to say that the dealer room experience was so good this year, that I didn't really care that I was missing out on the freebie table, the free timbits, etc. The only thing I tried to assist were the panels but as usual, I managed to assist to two of them.

This is a very late reply, but I wanted to thank all the organizers, attendees, and dealers who attended. You made my first attendance to a Canadian Joe Con an unforgettable experience, in a very good way. I had a great time, and hope I can also go to the next.

Yo Joe!

So you're keeping the same date-ish to co-incide with the movie right?
