General Joe Talk / Re: What is the future for o-ring collectors?

Compared with figures from 1990 and 1991, the Savage stuff is pretty dull. Aside from being taller than regular Joes, their puffed up chests made for unattractive figures. This seemed to be a prevailing theme for the time, though. (refer to Star Wars: POTF and whatever junk Toy Biz was putting out by the mid-90's)

I think it was a step in the right direction conceptually, but the execution looked about on par with what Lanard was putting out.

I wonder how Joe would do if every figure came with a special weapon with special powers that adult collectors could ignore. i.e. an anti-gravity backpack, a freeze-ray, x-ray goggles. It would make for an interesting cartoon.

Received some G.I. Joe mechs from LJ. They were packed with care and he kept me updated with e-mails. Highly recommended!

Exclusive doesn't mean "one". It means "restricted to a person or group" TRU and BBTS are that group. :)

Ahem....

American Football = sport played with the ball in the hands.

Football (real name of what is known as soccer) = sport played mainly with the foot, and never with the hands.

CFL is still essentially American Football sport, doesn't matter who plays it, it's still an "American" sport.

goalkeepers in soccer can handle the ball in the penalty box.

I'm truly impressed  ::) with both of you for your your sporting knowledge. I'm also so glad you're both willing to share your veritable septic tanks FULL of knowledge with us all. By all means continue this urinating match. It has SUCH bearing on the thread topic.

You know a simple "lets get back on topic" would have sufficed.  Instead, you posted flame bait that I have to watch going forward as a moderator.  Great.

Being a Leaf fan I'd expect you to have more of a sense of humour.

Listen here, troll, if anyone here's gonna start up trouble it's gonna be me.

We've got fans of a disappointing team on the verge of elimination taking flak from a fan of a perpetually losing franchise in an online slap fight. I wanna watch!!!

I suppose the last straw for me was the Zombie set. I was so unimpressed with it that it was an easy pass and think that broke me from the "gotta have 1 of everything" frame of mind.

Oh dude. Way to turn a hobby into a chore!

Completion-ism is terrible. Buy what you want! If you don't see anything you like, skip the wave!

As for your collection/mortagage. Keep what makes you happy. Get rid of the stuff you don't like.

Already crossed this bridge.  It's called life and priorities (family and work).  GI JOE and toys are on the lowest end of the totem pole.   Plus it's hard to get excited about the brand when Hasbro has taken a break from it themselves.  And to be honest, Hasbro mailed it in with some of the crappiest figures they have ever made for the second movie line.  Giving up being a figure completiest will liberate you.

Black major's customs are the only things I have a mild interest in.  He sucked me back in with those female Cobra troopers.   Hasbro's loss; they had plenty of time to cash in on this.  Otherwise, I haven't spent that much money on toys in the past little while.  I have passed on most of the US convention items this year; I can get them later on.

My goal is to get a couple of more curio cases to display the figures I want.  But I have a 8 month year old that is taking up my time and I am loving it.   So no rush.

If you ever decide to sell your Defiant, let me know! :)

That might be a local problem on your network. I'm seeing it fine.

@Jon S : Might I add "lesser fan from the Leafs Nation.''  ::)

Nope. Leafs fans are the most die-hard fans in all of hockey. To the point that I question their mental stability. Habs fans are rabid too (and not exactly great people - you lead the league in hockey riots by far) but they've got nothing on the lemming-like Leaf fans marching off the cliff year after year.

Your sources must be flawed...or you must be a Habs hater. I'll go with Habs hater and that's fine by me: GO HABS GO!  ;D .... 'til the end, no matter what.

He's from the Greater Toronto Area (or a Lesser Area near Toronto if you ask me). Of course he's a Habs hater!!!

I bought some Zombie Initiative figures from Bandonov. He gave me a great deal and was pleasant the whole way through (despite me being weird). Deal with confidence!
