Reviews Section / Re: 2012 Canadian G.I. Joe Convention Figure Set
« on: August 13, 2012, 08:36:30 PM »
Nice guys!

One thing?... Why didn't you put HAGAR on the stand? EVERY HAGAR had a hole drilled in his foot to fit on a stand!

Mike, you're absolutely right. I just double checked. Chalk it up to it being a long day and a very dim hotel room hahaha.

We kind of put the review together quickly so everyone could get a nice look at the set. It's something no one really does each year. We wanted to give it some love and show appreciation for all your hard work and those involved.

If you take a look at JoeNerd's other vidoes, he's actually pretty good and the quality is usually better.

It might be something we do every year  :)

So that's how Joe Canuck dresses for the summer....

Interesting take on the figure. I do like it. Only part that bothers me is where the belt area is.

I'll assume as well that the Armour Cycle will be used to balance out the HATE Scout, with the RHINO being used next year as the focal point of the 2013 con set.

what if it's reversed???!!!!...everyone can dream haha.

Neat idea. Like everyone else said, you can't go wrong with chrome.

This is shaping up to be the best set yet imho.

For whatever reason, I love the way all the pieces come together for this fig. Looks like a total bad a$$. My favorite piece thus far.

Neat. Is the fig made up completely of the VvV BAT with new arm attachments and the ROC viper armor?

TRU Lasalle: no Joe Troopers. No Cobra Troopers. No Red Ninjas. Otherwise, wave 1. Low stock on threepacks.
Wal Mart Lasalle: Roadblock, Storm Shadow, Duke, and the carded bikes.

To the people who bought out all of the troopers and ninjas: I hope you enjoy them. :\

I can share your sentiment. The TRU I went to...they had just put out several cases of joes. I picked up two red ninjas and two joe troopers along with some other of the figs. The next guy then comes and picks out all the remaining red ninjas and joe troopers and nothing else...He can be a collector or a scalper...but it is what it is.

As I said in a similar thread, I think everyone just needs to calm down instead of going bananas rushing to stores trying to find these. Most stores have just begun to put out the figures. These figures will get re-released next spring if you don't get them this time around. I can't see Hasbro skipping this wave next time around and starting with wave 2. I think it's just the must have now mentality, but I won't blame anyone.

We really don't know to what extent the quantities of joe product that is out there. Even though there is supposedly no restock, does not mean the retailers don't alread have large quantities. I think it's more of an no reorder once supply is spent.

That being said, it's tough being a collector. You're constantly fighting with other collectors who might also be armybuliders to get the items you want, and with scalpers trying to cash in. There's the panic that there might not be any new joe items until next year and there might not be any restock...so people clean them out.

Generally stores only put out a case of items at a time and if you're not there a the right time, you miss out. So, it's tough, but that is the life.

Man these figs are pricey...for what you get, it's a tough pill to swallow. With tax, it's almost $13 a figure.

I did bite the bullet and pick up a few figs. I'm passing on all the vehicles. I think everyone just needs to calm down instead of going bananas rushing to stores trying to find these. Most stores have just begun to put out the figures. These figures will get re-released next spring. I can't see Hasbro skipping this wave next time around and starting with wave 2...but who knows.

Red Ninja: Well if you loved the 30th SS, you'll love this figure too...but less haha. Unfortunately, this fig only comes with 2 katanas and a spring loaded zipline. If you have the 30th SS, then you can share some accessories.

Zartan: I don't know why, but I really dig this figure and the gimmick. The figure does not really portray the movie version, but it's neat. Comes with a decent amount of accessories and 3 alternate heads. The only thing that bothers me is knees down. No double jointed knees and no ankle articulation. I plan on fixing this.

Joe Trooper: Love alomst everything about the figure. It has all the articulation you've come to expect from a joe. Good amount of accesories. The only things that bothers me is the long peg for the backpack. It really only fits if you've got the "cape" on, that and the fact that the knees and lower legs appear to be of a cheaper/softer plastic. With the top heaviness of the fig, he tends to topple over...thanks for no figure stands Hasbro.

Cobra Commander: I liked this figure initially, but as soon as I opened him...that all faded. I still dig the helmet/head, but the rest of the figure it really lacking. The all black look really hides a lot of the flaws. Limited articulation on the knees and no ankle articulation. Crappy gimmick accessory. Tough to get in a great pose.

Cobra Trooper: Same like CC. Liked it intially until I opened it. Don't plan on getting any more. Love the head, but the rest just fails for me. The figure is extremely short...much shorter than the rest of the figures. Even stature wise, seems a little small. The lower arms just looks odd and the figure can't really hold his accessories and look cool. Lack of articulation on the knees and no ankle articulation really make this figure really limited in posing. Parachute gimmick would be fun for kids.

Roadblock: I only got this because I like the Rock. Figure is decent, but has the same articulation on the lower legs like Zartan, CC, trooper. No accessories other than the gimmick and his right hand is useless without the gimmick. Plan on swapping out the hands.

Overall: Higher prices, less accessories, less articulation, no figure stands, cheaper plastic on certain figure parts and accessories, generic card packaging, no file cards. If you are a die hard joe fan you'll pick and choose. Better bargain if they go on sale.

I wasn't caught off guard with the figs. I knew what I was getting, but am still somewhat disappointed with some of the figs.

Don't plan on getting Duke, SE, SS or anymore than I have unless these things go on sale, but I'd still probably pass. Same with the vehicles.

I've seen 'em at both TRU and WM.

Looks like TRU is carrying all items.

However, the WM I was at, stock is much smaller. 2 cases of figs, motorcycles with figs, no 3 packs, no vehicles. Looks to be a lot less compared to the first movie...that or they didn't put everything out.

Not sure if stores are going to restock...guess it depends on how much inventory of wave 1 was ordered by the retailers.

Don't see a recall happening.
