General Joe Talk / Re: Prototype names for dossiers and filecards

I thought Dr. Mindbender's prototype name was Dr. Brain-Wave?

General Joe Talk / Re: Been watching a lot of Sunbow Joe lately...
« on: May 14, 2010, 09:49:47 PM »
I bought all the Rhino Video DVD versions as soon as they came out... until Sony cancelled the second half of the 1986 season.  I can't wait for Shout's versions so I can finally watch The Spy Who Rooked Me (I'm a sucker for Bond spoofs).
As for the shows themselves, I think they age well.  I forgot Cobrathon had computer viruses and the internet in it, in 1986!  I even started to like Sgt. Slaughter upon rewatching these shows.

General Joe Talk / Flipped artwork
« on: May 13, 2010, 02:12:44 PM »
Recently, I was looking at my 1983 Dragonfly box and noticed the cannon is portrayed on the opposite skid.  Other "flipped artwork" includes 1983 Doc, the 1984 Slugger, 1985 Ferret and Silver Mirage.  (all flipped presumably for aesthetic reasons)
Are there any more examples?
Any examples of original artwork corrected?

General Joe Talk / 1984 VAMP & HAL Sears 2-pack question
« on: May 04, 2010, 11:27:59 PM »
Was the 1984 Sears VAMP & HAL 2-pack ever available in Canada (in a bilingual box)?
I know the '82 Missile Command HQ, '84 Toss N'Cross and the '85 SMS & CAT were all available here (because I have/had some of these).
In 1984 Sears Canada released the Cobra Combat Set (a Stinger and ASP 2-pack) and a Battle Station 3-pack, so did these replace the US-only VAMP & HAL?

Introductions / Re: Hello, new to the forum!

Yes, I was a pretty hardcore collector starting from about 1993 to 2003 (when the bulk of what I set out to collect was in my possesion).  After that, I moved on to other hobbies and had the bulk of my boxed collection in my closet or basement.  The ROC movie (which I thought was just OK) put G.I. Joe back in the front of my mind.
I had always meant to do a quick video of my collection (for insurance purposes) and noticed that many collectors were doing in-depth reviews on Youtube of the ROC stuff.  This gave me the drive to pull out some of the vintage stuff I hadn't touched in years.
Thanks to Cobra Freak (met him through Youtube), I was directed here (I've seen this before due to the convention exclusives popping up on Ebay) and I hope to contribute.

Type in formbx257 in the search field and a few of my videos should pop up.  Due to Youtube's recent reformatting, not all my videos show up when you do this, so you may want to go into the channel page instead.

Introductions / Hello, new to the forum!

Hello, I'm new to the forum, but have been "lurking" for quite a while.  My name comes from the line in the 1983 Joe cartoon, 1st episode, where the Baroness (in diguise as Maj. Juanita Hooper) asks General Flagg whether he's filed his request for G.I. Joe using Form BX 257, Requisition Order MZ 19, in triplicate.  Most viewers remember this scene for Duke's facial expression immediately afterward, though.

I only collect from 1982 to 1985, it keeps my collection small, manageable and these are the years I actually played with them as a kid, so it's a nostalgia thing too.

I pretty much finished my collection a few years ago and moved on to other hobbies, but my interest in G.I. Joe was sparked again by the movie.  Currently I am doing a series of video reviews on Youtube.
