GIJoe Original Series Relaunch

One of the books available for FCBD 2010 will GIJoe 155.5 - continuing where the Marvel series left off.  Written by Larry Hama, "continues his classic G.I. JOE run right here, and RELAUNCHES THE ORIGINAL SERIES!".

I have to admit, I quit around issue 135 or so when it began to feature Ninja Force as the lead but I have enjoyed his GIJoe:Origins issues.

I quit reading way before even Ninja FOrce but I've since re-read everything I could find and look forward to the trades that IDW is slowly releasing from the Marvel line.  That said - I'm stoked by this revival of the original series!!   :loop:

I'm approaching this cautiously, myself...

Larry Hama did good in my eyes with Devil's Due's Storm Shadow series and the more recent Origins tale, but when he tries to "go back to Marvel" like he did with Frontline and Declassified, it felt a little less natural, even forced at times.

But hopefully, my fears will be completely unjustified and this book will turn out to be totally kick-butt.

On one hand I like that they are going back to the original series, I'm warming to the IDW run but I'm still just not enjoying it as much as I feel I should be.

On the other, I did enjoy the DD run that continued from about the same point, and with this it will be completely written off., and that is a complete shame.

Yeah, but all the guys that Devils Due killed off will still be alive and kicking.

This might get me back into it. Can I order it to be shipped to my house?

Not likely.  You'd have to show up on the first Saturday in May to pick it up at a comic shop that is participating in Free Comic Book Day.

I read it all through the crappy Ninja Force era, and this is must for me to get.  Now I just need to know if Heroes is still open in London, or if I'm going to have to find one in K Dub.

Heroes is still open alright.

I actually quit when it became Ninja Force.  I wish I'd have picked up 155 though.
