G.I. Joe graveyard
« on: August 24, 2011, 08:50:36 AM »

I was doing a landscaping job the other day, removing and leveling off a flower bed for a client with a 10 year old son.
As I was raking out the dirt a body popped to the surface. 25th LT falcon. I picked him up, dusted him off and put him to the side. pretty cool, I thought. This kid must like joes. 2 minutes later, 2 more bodies popped up. then a few more, and more...
by the end of the day I resurrected about 20 buried joes, and a few storm troopers.
I showed the kid when he got home from school, and he was so happy. he forgot he buried them and was wondering where they went. Then I pointed out the cobra logo sticker on the back of my van. The next day I brought him a handfull of vintage joes and told him to keep playing while he could, because once your 35 and your bedroom is still full of joes, your wife will not be impressed.  ;)

That's awesome. Nice to see the next generation still finds our toys cool.
My nephew spent the weekend with me and his favourite toy was a beat-up Skystriker I had hanging in my garage. We took it to the park and two other boys spent the whole time with hanging out with him - they loved the wings and thought it was the greatest toy - "flying" it down the slide, etc.

that's a great story.  always nice to see kids playing with toys in general.  its great for them to bust out there creativity and imagination.  My son loves his joes, he spends hours setting them all up for the "ultimate battle".

always fun finding old lost things.  When I was young, my brother and I attached a homemade parachute on Scifi and threw him off the railing of our stairs, we found the parachute but no figure and were like wtf.  Fast forward a 13 or so years later, and Scifi turns up inbetween an inner and outter pot (so a pot within another pot) of a plant that use to be next to the staircase (and moved to another room years later).

Glad I could help. I always smile when I see kids playing with joes.
My 6 year old daughter is more into joes than my 3 year old son... give him time.
Shes the one that sets up all the bases and vehicles.
And her favorite is storm shadow...
He likes tea pots and mighty machines. Im still working on him...
but his favorite is cobra BATS... one of my faves!

Awwwww Yo JOE! To that man...awesome story indeed. Miss the days of being outside me and my brother building camps and HQ's for our Joe's and just countless hours and creative ways to enjoy the fun that is JOE! Thanks for sharing! :)
