Ask Hasbro Your Questions! SUMMER 2009 Edition
« on: June 24, 2009, 10:48:03 PM »

It's almost that time again, time for another round of Q&A's with Hasbro!

Please post your questions in this thread. This thread will be locked in one week (The evening of Canada Day) and voting will open for the best questions. The 3 top voted questions will be sent to Hasbro on Monday the 6th.

Let's try to get some interesting questions this round, ones that can't be easily answered with "canned" corporate statements. Put some thought into it and let's get some info!

Here's one like I'd like to hear the answer to put never would:

In the past it was said Star Wars fgiures were more expensive due to licensing fees.  Why are Joes and SW now at the same price point now?

As for one moer likely to be answered - now that the release of the ROC figures is at hand - what kind of ROC store exclusives will we be seeing in Canada?

How can we get the final set for the cartoon DVD sets "best of the 80's"?

Will Canada see the new 17 DVD box set of the 80's cartoon at local retailers?

Considering the international flavour of the G.I. Joe team in the movie how would you pursue the inclusion of a Canadian character when a sequel gets the greenlight?

If the movie happens to be a failure, and the toys do not sell very well, would Hasbro go back to making more 25th Anniversary (Modern Era) figures?

I posted about this in another thread, but perhaps it can be a question for hasbro canada:

According to the Q&A from this past winter:

*2)* Will the rest of the 25th anniversary DVD Packs and Vehicles see a wide release in Canada like the first wave? It's hard to build the MASS device when only 2 of the 5 packs have shown up at retail.
Yes, as Canada works through inventory, they will get to packs 3, 4, and 5.

But then from information gained at the Canadian Joe Con it was said that according to Hasbro Canada, there will be no new product due in Canada until the Movie.

Could you provide some clarification on whether or not DVD sets 3,4 and 5 will be available at Canadian retail? Whether it is before or after the movie doesn't really matter, as long as we know they are coming!

My question might be long, but I didn't know how to cut it short. So here goes. If someone wants to edit this, and make it his, by all means, please do, so that Hasbro Canada gets the real message here:

By recognizing the vast interest that the 2009 Canadian Joe Convention exclusive set generated on a planetary scale thanks to Gi joe collector communities worldwide and the Vac-painted chromium Hiss tank playing a major centerpiece part in this set, will Hasbro Canada consider using the success of the 2009 canadian Joe Con exclusive set as an example to show Canadian retailers how collector communities can play an active and positive role in the growth of the product variety and exclusivities in Canadian stores, and perhaps persuade the big commercial store chains to offer "real" exclusives similar to what Hasbro of USA accomplished with Target when they offered the Tiger Force and Python Patrol vehicle repaints?

1. The PIT Playset is noticeably absent from the product insert included with currently available ROC vehicles.  Will the PIT be coming to Canadian retail?

2. How do you determine when to send solicitations to retailers (thus allowing them to take pre-orders?)  In some cases they seem to go out roughly 3 months before the product becomes available, other times we don't see them until just a few days before.

3. How many vehicles of each scale (Echo, Bravo, Alpha) will be included in the ROC line?

4. The Joe team is badly out gunned right now and needs some more hardware.  How will this be addressed in the future. (aka, Almost all the vehicles are Cobra, when will we get some better G.I. Joe vehicles?)

5. Why were the vehicles in the 25th anniversary line packaged with "windows" rather than the awesome classic art work?  At the time I believe you stated it was because people wanted to see what was inside, yet the ROC toys do come in nice looking packaging (complete with art work).  Was it simply a cost cutting measure, and is there any hope of us one day getting some of that classic vehicle art work?

Good questions Stormie, especially #1.

How many waves of ROC will we see this year?

Any new developments on Resolute?  (This may or may not be addressed at SDCC).
