Title: The current state of being a vendor
Post by: Colonel Abernathy on June 05, 2011, 03:16:20 PM
I'm considering selling off my 25th/ME collection at the CJC this year. For those who vended last year, what was it like? I'm generalizing here but it seems like buyers don't spend as much as they used to and I'm thinking I might be dragging out the collection for no reason. Last time I was a vendor was in 2009.

it all depends on your price and quality of the items.

Last year was good but it all depends on people. If they want to spend the money they will.

No two shows are never alike.

I was told that 19 years ago, and it's still true today.
Take the Burlington toy show yesterday. I did phenomenal... I mean, on par with a big Toronto toy show. That doesn't always happen. Hal can attest to that. It purely depends on your stock, your prices, and what others have.

If you come with 10 25th Crimson Guards at $15.00 each, and someone else has them for $10.00 each, you'll be lucky to sell one. Simple as that.
If you're coming to blow out/unload your stuff, then price it as so. Unload as much as you can, and try to make deals with dealers during the day to buy out the rest of your items at the end of the day. I did that at the last Woodstock show, bought out another dealer. It happens all the time.

Thanks for the tips, guys!

I doubt I will make back what I spent on the collection but at the same time I don't want to be having a "$1 per carded 25th figure" thing going on. I'll have to find the balance.

Well, hey! Let me just say that at the end of the day, I'll take any left over carded 25th for $2.00 each! lol. ;)

See, it already got better. ;)
