My customs
« on: May 06, 2009, 05:54:22 PM »

Well, I thought I might as well share some of my customs with those who don't frequent the other boards.

Mainframe:
Added original backpack to him and modded walkie talkie to fit on backpack.  Made helmet removable.

Mjr Bludd:
Removable helmet and functional right arm:

Quick Kick:
Fixed his eyes, modded the neck so he can look up more and moved the backpack peg as well as painted his inner hips:

Marvel comic CC:
Was a commission that someone did for me.

Storm Shadow unmasked:

Storm Shadow Joe:

My Zartan had missing paint aps on his left leg so I just put the 5 pack lower legs on it and I really like the new look.

Shockwave:
Added original backpack and modded neck so he can look down

Slipstream:
removable helmet

Tele Viper:
Removable helmet

Mobat:
modded turret so figure sits lower and added rear panel with tow hook

Short Fuze:
Put his head and gear on comic pack Duke body and hollowed out tip of mortar and shortened neck

Clutch:
fixed his arms and made short sleeves rolled up.

Rock N Roll:
changed knife holster to gun holster and fixed his arms

Breaker:
added original backpack and modded arms to get rid of suicide slit

Scrap Iron:

BBQ:
Removable helmet and holster for nozzle gun.

Duke:
fixed his arms

Ace:
modified harness and gave him BBI helmet

Blowtorch:
cut out eye piece and put in clear one

put Spy Troops RB head on him

Deep Six:

Shipwreck:
put comic pack arms on 5 pack Shipwreck.  Had to mod hands to fit.

Your figures looks great.  A lot better than original.  I wish to have patience and time to do this kind of customs!

Some of the customs took over a year to do.  I finally finished my Mjr Bludd a month or two ago even though I started the Mjr Bludd when the Desert Set first came out.

I finished him off finally by adding Hawk's holster, and now I think I'm done with him.

Also gave HD some new accessories so he can actually fit in with my 25th:

And a few better shots of Roadblock:

Didn't like Red Star head for Ripcord, so I used Rook's head.

I also wished Snake Eyes came with his original backpack too, so I modified one.

And everyone should have a removable helmet:

all fantastic improvements, man.  I agree, everyone should have removable helmets and pistols for that matter, not more sculpted on stuff, give us the interaction!

Great stuff, all around, man.

I'd like to add that these look so natural, they don't look like they've been modified: they just look to their very best - EXCELLENT JOB!

Thanks guys.  Lots of these mods were things I've always wished for when I was a kid collecting G.I.Joes but had no means or tools to achieve them.  I finally get to realize that dream now.

So, when I first posted my RnR and Clutch short sleeve mods, I've had a couple of requests to post how it's done.  Here's pics of the RnR and Clutch I originally did:

I finally found suitable arms for Falcon and did it for him finally too.  Here's some WIP pics and steps.

First, remove his hands and lower arm.  Cut the cuff off the arm.  Then make a hole down the middle.

Then on the upper arm/bicep, you have to trim around the bottom as shown:

This is so the cuff can fit over it.

The cuff is stretchy so you can stretch it over it (just trim more if it doesn't fit) and that holds it in place.

After you are happy with the fit of the sleeve, then you just pop the arm you want in there onto the figure.

Here's the finished result for Falcon:

The Tunnel Rat I got, the paint on the straps on his right leg were done really poor and didn't line up at all.  I had a comic pack Shipwreck so I swapped out his thigh with Tunnel Rat's and now TR has a pistol and pistol holster on his leg as well.  Added ammo belt for his gun and painted eyes.  For the backpack, I took Arctic SE backpack and shaved off the begs for his feet things and then hollowed out the back a little so it can fit over his ammo belts and his TNT bag.

I got Monkeywrench but my main issue is the lower arms used.  They are so short and small.  I don't have any glasses so nothing I can do about getting some glasses on Monkeywrench, but I just needed the arms fixed, but I didn't want to waste the arms off another figure so I came up with a simple solution that will not waste any figures:

I used the Cobra Flint arms on Monkeywrench and put Monkeywrench's on Cobra Flint.  Since the troopers are more scrawny looking, I think the Monkeywrench arms work and the skin tones match perfectly.

Well, I finally put my Wetsuit together.  I asked someone who was trading the Chuckles head to paint it for me.  I have the parts to make Wetsuit look like the 1986 version, but after a lot of debating, I decided to keep him as is as it makes more sense.  I'll use this one as a cold water operations Wetsuit and if I can get a hold of another Wetsuit, then I'll make it 1986 version accurat.  I'm just waiting for a Flash helmet.
