So, some of you have gotten a Spam PM from "Lady_Admin" today.
That account has now been banned.
Previously, we've had members sign up and complain that they couldn't send out a PM. The reason for this was that the board was set up to not allow PM's to be sent until a new user had posted 5 times on the site. I had forgotten why I set it up that way, but I knew there must of been a reason - this, apparently was the reason.
When the site changed servers, I re-set the minimum number of posts to PM option back to 0.
Today, that's changed and it's now set back to a minimum of 5 posts before a new user can PM anyone.
Sorry guys, but I'd like to stop spam as much as possible. I thought the new app I installed on the board did the trick - and it did, to a point. But this is the only way I can think of to protect all our board members.
If you got a PM from "Lady_Admin", delete it. Simple as that. ;-)

It's a good idea. 5 posts isn't much. As a new member to the site, I totally understand this. ZToo many goofballs running around who wanna make trouble.

Funny, I got this Lady-Admin's PM on my joesightings account, in which I haven't logged onto it in years. That alone set off the BS alarm.
If you google this name, you will find that several message boards have been spammed by this asshole.
-
i got spammed here also and on joesightings where i forgot i even had an account.
anybody know what the purpose of the spamming was?

That's a dangerous question. That's asking someone to acknowledge the whatever she was spamming about and I highly recommend you don't do that.
Best to just delete the spam and forget about it.

I think people should be informed to prevent falling for something this stupid. In a nut shell
"A virus alert was noticed on your computer. We highly recommend you to check your computer and perform online virus check at our site immediately"
A link was provided but I am not going to post it. Sorry, but no message board is going to detect and tell you whether you have a virus on your computer.

i got a pm from her on joesightings as well.

-
Hey, there's a member called "LadyXAdmin", is he related to "Lady_Admin"? Just wondering...
-
We're aware. Already banned.
-
I got a pm from this ladyadmin and I was wondering can you get a virus even though you didn't click on the link?
Thanks,
CF :)
-
You got that today?
She was banned a while ago and I didn't see any new members join.
Don't open anything from her. She is a spammer.
When did she send you the pm?

Mike,
Are you sure this is working because I got a PM today from someone who only had 2 posts. The PM was OK (not a SPAM), so I answered back to help that collector. But I'm not sure that the 5 post rule is working... or will only work on new account made after your change...

I found a way to change it.
I assume (whoeever that person was) that they had to enter in a verification code to send you a PM. They will have to do that until they post on the board 5 times.
-
cool thats a relief :) sorry that it took me so long to post back. I hadn't been on in a while and I saw a pm in my message box and I saw it was from her and I remeberd all the joe forums where getting hit so I just deleted it.
