Title: Batman 3 has a title! THE DARK KNIGHT RISES!
Post by: bandonov on October 27, 2010, 06:06:09 PM
I got this news clip from www.IMDB.com (http://www.IMDB.com), here is the link to the full story: http://www.empireonline.com/news/feed.asp?NID=29317 (http://www.empireonline.com/news/feed.asp?NID=29317)

Big news from the Batman camp in today’s L.A. Times: Christopher Nolan has revealed the name of the third film in his Gotham City trilogy. In July 2012, we’ll be queuing for The Dark Knight Rises.

Not only that, but in something of a bombshell, Nolan went on to dispell what many had begun to assume to be a given – “It won’t be the Riddler,” reports L.A.T.’s blog Hero Complex. So easy to get ahead of yourself, isn't it? Of course, true to form, the director wouldn’t reveal who it would be.

What Nolan seemed most interested in imparting was that he’s convinced Warner Bros. to keep telling his story in 2D, and to continue down the path of hi-def IMAX sequences. And he’ll get no argument from us on the subject – if it ain't broke, etc.

The post contains one other potentially juicy, enigmatic Nolan quote: “We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones.” From here, you can go down two schools of thought – 1) This is a straightforward, non-commital comment. 2) You can subscribe to the oft-chanted mantra that "In comic books, no-one is ever really dead" – and we lost two big characters in The Dark Knight. But then again, of course, that doesn’t – to date – really wash with the realistic leanings of the first two films. What was that about getting ahead of ourselves? Pah! Tish! Etc.!

I love that he is keeping it 2D and HI-Def IMAX! 3D would have killed the franchise.

3d kills everything for those of us that cant watch it due to side effects.

I remember Dent/Two-Face dying, but who was the other "big character"?  Did they mean Rachel Dawes?

Or maybe the death of Heath Ledger in using the Joker?  I guess he could CG the Joker but it would have to a quick cameo...

I remember reading that they have footage of Heath in a straight jacket muttering about the "Bigger plan" or something.

Would be easy enough to write that into the movie...

"The Crow" anyone? That film was finished after the death of Brandon Lee using his stunt double. How about Terminator Salvation and Arnold at the end? Almost anything is possible (in moderation) nowadays.

That wasn't CGI, that was Roland Kickinger.

I am looking forward to #3.  Of course all the rumours are flying.  I have heard Penguin or Two Face again.

Maybe they will go with Adam West's idea and have him come back as "Uncle Batman"

Exactly the point I was trying to make. CG on Heath Ledgers face for a small cameo and send the royalties to his family.

No. Adam West as a person is rude and doesn't deserve it. I recall a story where (might even be from someone here) where a guy was in line to get Adam West's autograph. West was charging $20 per shot and the guy had a poster with the whole cast and everyone else had signed it. The guy told Mr.West that his was the last autograph and then it would be complete. Adam West wanted to charge this guy extra since his was the last to complete his collection. Something like $100 or something like that. The guy walked away with no autograph.

Ever since I heard that story I have lost all respect for Mr. West. Let him stay on family guy.

As far as Bat Man goes, keep Adam West far far away. Adam West and "Batman" have nothing in common other then ego, but Batman is cool, so he can get away with it.

That story has been going around for years.
I've also heard it about Brent Spiner (Data), Triple H, and countless others.

I understand that they want to curb the ebayers trying to capitalize on there fame but most fans actually keep the items not sell it.

My point was Adam West wanted MORE because his name was the last needed to complete something this guy had been working on for a while.

Adam West should be grateful his cult status has kept him afloat and working on projects like Family Guy. If it wasn't for the hard core fans keeping his name alive then he would probably be selling time shares or something like that. He's a has been from a campy 70's show. That was like 40 years ago now. Way to milk that cow.

Brent Spiner, HHH, and the others that are still relevant because of their acting ability might be another story.

Look at Larry Hama. Now there is a class act. No ego, easy to talk with and never looks down his nose at you for being a "fan boy". Last CJC I was talking to him about "Cool Breeze" and asked him why the character was made. Next time I meet him I hope to dig up the issue where Cool Breze is killed off and get him to sign that issue, just because I found it fascinating that Larry made this guy that could have been a long term character but instead made him just to kill him off. o me that made the comic that much realistic.

Back on topic, yay Bat Man.
