Title: Celebrate my 30th birthday with the 1986 GI Joe movie!
Post by: Scramble on July 23, 2010, 03:52:22 PM
This is an open invitation to my fellow Joe Fans. I rented out a theatre at the Dollar Cinema on August 4th for my 30th birthday. I will be playing the widescreen version of the 1986 animated GI Joe movie. You're all welcome, although there will be a cover charge of $30 to pay for the rental of the theatre.

Find out more on Facebook. (http://http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=112634948788377&ref=mf)

It was a total blast. We started out watching the PSAs, which warmed up the people who were less excited to be there, then watched the movie in widescreen glory. It was so satisfying to hear people seeing the movie for the first time react to lines like "Law and Order's a team, man" and "ditty bag". And Statue of Liberty opening on the big screen was the theme song playing in surround sound, what an experience! Also, I'm not sure if it's because it's wide screen or big screen, but this was the first time I noticed that the Slaughter House was made from a downed airplane. Awesome! Even though we had technical difficulty that meant the X-Box was not available, the GI Joe movie made up for it.
