Title: Special at Toy Wars this Sept.28
Post by: latinjoe22 on September 22, 2010, 06:18:56 PM
LJ here,

I originally wanted to post this by myself, but instead told the store owner of Toy Wars to post it as an incentive to join our boards.

I would've posted this myself earlier, even if Toy Wars hadn't asked me to (and he didn't) so here goes: Toy Wars is having a 20% anniversary sale on everything this September 28th. I'll be heading there myself that day. Maybe this is a great opportunity for some of us to bump into eachother and to find a good deal afterall.

Never been to Toy Wars before? Well, maybe it's the best chance you have to go check it out.

Just google:

5535, boulevard Decarie
Montreal, QC H3W 3C7
(514) 544-8969

Thanks and see you there maybe...

Is there a website so we can order online for us that can't make it to Montreal for this sale!

Nope. Just a physical store. So if you can't make it down to Montreal on that day, more for us Montrealers!  ;D

Hm.  I have an archaeology lab that day, but I guess I could trek down there to meet up with you guys and save a bit on impulse buys...  Maybe.  I can be there around 2:30 in the afternoon.

I'll be there between 5-6pm, I work and usually finish later but I'll do an exception on that day, can't do better than that.

No problem.  I probably won't end up going this time, anyway.

On a Tuesday?
Good deal, bad day.
I won't be able to make it because of work, but I hope you guys have a good time.

The store usually closes at 6pm but the owner told me when I asked him for myself that he is willing to stay opened half hour more if he knows he's waiting for someone to come.

I agree that tuesday is not the best of days of the week. I normally should not be able to make it. But I have been working overtime lately so I will asked to be excused early on that day exceptionally, of course if it's possible.

Usually good. If you can't find parking on Decarie, there's some immediately around the corner on Dupuis.

That or you can always ask Madman, he drives to get there.

Parking shouldn't be an issue...usually free parking all around.

If you tell me you're going to be there around that time, then perhaps I can try. Like I said, I am already planning to come around 5-6pm. But to bump into Scramble and others would definetely make my day  :)

I'm skipping out of school early for this.
Should get there between 4 and 5.

Some people will apparently bring cake.

Little reminder: don't forget to bring your digital camera if you have one. It'd be great to take a couple of Montreal Canuck group pics and post them here on the boards.

It's not the first ever Montreal Joe Meet btw, there were at least one two real ones before this. This one was more like a rehearsal. Scramble, Jay, Madman, Redmao and a few others can probably tell you how the past Montreal Joe Meets were like, actually I believe there are pics of the last one here on Joecanuck.com.

Sorry LJ, I was missinformed about the Montreal Meet.  I've only been on this forum for only 7 months.  I should read the archived posts when I get a chance.  So did we learn alot from this mini-meet?

Hey, and knowing is half the...darn there I go again! I've been saying this almost 3 times today at Toy Wars I am starting to annoy myself.

The mini-meet was fun indeed. I did get to meet with fellows Oreobuilder and Jay which was great. We also had the honor to enjoy the company of Protoman (not from Joecanuck) who is probably best known as one of Canada's leading Transformers collectors. And earlier today, I had a chance to speak with a very nice guy named Dave who's not on the boards yet but I have the feeling will be joining us soon. If you're reading this Dave, Joecanuck wants you! 'Til all are one!

EDIT: Actually I don't think he can access this Quebec section if he's not a member already....  :-[

Bah! That Oreobuilder fella was a pain in the ass too!

Seriously though, it was great to finally put some faces to some screen names. As a relative noob (as far as knowing everyone in person), I had agreat time. It was a fun, casual setting to meet people for the first time (especially as I'm someone who tends to be shy in large groups and that needs some time to warm up to people). Everyone was easy going and very welcoming. I'm looking forward to the next time we can get together. Thanks to LJ for suggesting it and thanks to Steve for putting up with us for 3 hours.

Now if we talk about Oreobuilder for a minute, Jay, that my friend is a good example of pain in the ass. He reminds me of Van Diesel, and I bet he could literally kick me in the butt If I said the wrong thing. Good thing I measured my choice of words correctly in his presence and even behind his back, the LJ would not have lived long to see Latina Jaye in Renegades.

Indeed Steve was a true gentleman to let us overtake his store for that long. He made an exception on that day because it was the anniversary of his store, so now that were back to a regular day, his do not loiter rule is back. The one thing that won't change is his coolness, the man's a Joe fan afterall.

I was so busy talking to everyone that I completely forgot to take group pictures of us, and I think everybody else forgot to as well, but there's always the next time!
