Cobra Commander at Otakuthon
« on: August 15, 2010, 01:31:51 AM »

After finding myself coerced into attending not only Otakuthon, but yaoi panels too... I finally found one of the three things that made this con worthwhile (the first was the thing that's always worthwhile, my girlfriend, the second was the Ryan Sohmer/Lar De Souza Q&A panel).

Someone dressed in a kickass Cobra Commander costume. Chrome-face version, too! It was amazing.

Was it one of you guys? Or someone you know?
It was so awesome I had to give him an enthusiastic "HAIL COBRA" as I passed him by.
Wish I could've snapped a pic, but my girlfriend had the camera and I couldn't find the Commander after getting back to her.
Maybe he ran away after mistaking that "Heroes of the North" guy for Snake-Eyes.

I was wondering why there were so many weeaboos on the bus last night...
Also, I'm REALLY sorry to hear you had to go to those panels, and I don't mean the Q&A one. :'(

Hah, it wasn't as bad as it could've been. Mostly because I can sleep through ANYTHING, so the first panel I managed to sleep through half on my girlfriend's shoulder... and since she forgot her ID yesterday, she couldn't get into the BIG ones, only one on "Star Trek slash" *shudders*, but since I hadn't had lunch I found a perfectly valid excuse to skip out on it. XD

And no one knows who this Commander was? You'd think with the care put into a costume like that he'd be enough of a fan to chillax with his fellow Canuckians.

This is bad and they should feel bad.  At least you got plenty of sleep, right?

There was a guy dressed up in a hooded Cobra Commander outfit at the Canadian Joe Con. I'd say your guy or at least the custome missed the right event (unless for some explainable reasons it's the same guy).

Man, you were sleeping...  we got both Cobra Commander (hooded and masked) at the CanJoeCon. That guy worked pretty hard to make such a great helmet. I can't see picture of him anywhere...

Now you know why I wasn't able to tell the recycling bin from a waste disposal Martin at the McDonald's on our way back from the CanJoeCon... otherwise I would not be recycling for the past 15 years for nothing  And now that you put it this way, yes I do remember the neat v.1 Cobra Commander outfit, I just couldn't place when exactly and if it wasn't all just...a dream

I thought the Cobra Commander (with battle helmet) Halloween costume they had available last year was pretty rad.  It might have been the same thing.  I think they actually use it in that "Ballad of GI Joe" funnyordie.com video...

Yes it was exactly the same, quite positive about it.

Maybe I should've given him the URL to JoeCanuck since it looks to me like he doesn't visit here.

He probably already has it. After all, he is Cobra Commander and his mind is set on world domination, hence total control over this wonderful site and others like this one :cobra:
