You are assuming that the burial at sea actually took place of course.......
I would put it that being dumped unceremoniously in the ocean is (while not deserved) the better option. Better dumped where no remains can be retrieved than somewhere his followers could attack in an ill conceived attempt at "rescuing his body from infidels".
