Title: Dreadnok Rampage - more updates
Post by: Pete The Greek on May 20, 2004, 08:24:34 PM
All the figures for this set minus the one GI JOE have been posted.

http://www.mastercollector.com/neat/gij ... eadnok.cfm (http://www.mastercollector.com/neat/gijoe/orlando/figures/dreadnok.cfm)

The Dreadheads having those Jerry Springer, trailer park trash, hillbilly names doesn't do anything for me. The figures I can live with but the names argh.

Out of the three sets made so far, this would would have to rank number 2 behind the Crimson Strike Set.  But far better than the Anaconda set.

I'm curious if anyone is planning on just buying six Funskool Muskrat figures, adding some cast Air Viper heads and building their own Dreadheads.

I'm still in love with this set. If you really wanted to make some LBC's, just switch around the Dreadhead's heads and now your dreadheads went from six to 12 or howmany sets you can get a hold of.

Does anyone think there will be a Zartan-disguised-as-General Hawk action figure for the additional convention premium, like last year's Firefly and Air Viper?

That's what I'm hoping for. If so, that would be the best Zartan to date IMO. I guess we'll find out when we get there. It's not far away now. ANyone know if you can take video cameras to the con?

The Dreadheads come in sets? When I saw the two guys in gray I thought they'd all be grey except the leader in red. Two of each takes away from the overall affect. It makes the leader stand out less, and there's less of a team feel. If they were all in their own colours, or all the same save for the leader, that'd make more sense.

Still a cool set, but some poor choices have been made, especially giving them stupid names.

I hate the names as well, but the set is cool anyway. Who could be that mysterious joe?

I'm hoping it'll be Chuckles or Back-Stop.

I like the look of the set!

But the names are silly!

So this is a real screw up as these are not for kinds, but the collectors...so I say booooooooo on them for chosing those names...they are bikers not hill billies!

Zandar will be the last figure....that?s my bet! But that does not include the last Joe or am I mixed up and they have shown all the bad guys and just need to reveal the last Joe?

Zartan will be available as a two pack or something when you go to the convention!

They have already show all the bad guys, so we're just waiting to see who the final Joer is.

I agree that Zartan will most likely be in a 2 pack, probably with Hawk as it is Hawk that he is dressing up as.

I have no clus who will be in the 3 pack you can purchase once there. There was that teel brigade figure that was up on ebay a while ago but I'm hoping that figure will be given to everyone at the dinner, in order to replace the lack of paracute drop figures. Time will tell.

Did they post the cost on the set?

I'm really liking the set even though most of the original dreadnoks are missing. These are the missing dreadnoks:
Gnawgahyde (though Crusher uses the same mold, I'd prefer Gnawgahyde)
Monkeywrench
Thrasher
Torch
Zandar
Zanzibar

The only weird part is that Master collector states:
Quote
Zarana is in charge of setting the Dreadnok?s trap. With her will be four Dreadnoks that you will recognize, six new troop building Dreadnoks called the Dreadheads and a new Dreadnok named Crusher!

There are only 3 dreadnoks we recognize: Buzzer, Ripper, Road Pig.
Otis, Crusher and the 6 dreadheads are all new. So I'm not sure what MC meant. Maybe Zartan in a 2-pack? However, I think MC has done a great job with what they got.

The cost of the con set is $240.00 for the homefront hero and non-member cost or $220.00 for attending members per set, which equals around 1 million Canadian dollars.

The missing Joe is a tiger Force Steel brigade...or so you would think with the arrival of some on ebay!!!

Nope. The last figure is Tiger Force Hard Top and man I just totally laughed out loud at how ugly he is. Don't get me wrong, I've been very possitive about this years set, but that figure just looks plain old goofy. He gives Funskool Cross country someone to eat lunch with at the dork table at G.I.Joe HQ.

Hey your right about that...I pulled a guess because Tiger Force Steel brigades are appearing on ebay...but I have now read several hardtop write ups...so Hardtop it is!!!

I'm pretty sure that Steel Brigade figure will still be used as a con exclusive. Maybe as part of the three-pack that morgardee has mentioned. I'm really curious as to how Zartan disguised as Hawk will look like. It will be such a great shocker if it was a unhooded Zartan head on a Hawk body with a Hawk mask.

It is confirmed that hardtop is the last joe - seen pics and it's in my MC monthly newsletter.

I really don't mind Hardtop and his tiger stripes. He'll still be a good addition to my other Hardtops/tech support team.

So the filecards are up and it reveals that Demolisher is a CanNOK! I should have been a stand-up comedian.

Y`know, as high north as Pikangikum is, is it really a frigid permafrost? If they wanted cold, talk Yukon, not Ontario.

Card art`s a bit strange and inconsistant, but a lot of fun. Zarana looks cool, the Dreadheads look like Steve Austin in a hood, and Hardtop never looked so bad ass.

Actually, I really like Hardtop`s FC in general. He had about two appearances in the Marvel comic, and he was depicted as a guy that doesn`t say`Hello`when a nod will do. They`ve captured that characteristic and written up some fun details.

Although they get permafrost, Pikangikum is apart of the boreal forest, not the sub arctic.  So I wouldn't say it's frigid permafrost either.  If you really want cold, try Churchill Manitoba.

let's hope its a mistake, those figures are ugly. Let's hope Zartan comes with a General hawk mask to cover his face so at least it would be a cool feature.

yellow glasses...

I hope that's some sort of custom. I was hoping for the v1 mold of Zartan in a new paint scheme or something. It's just rediculous to have two of the same figures, only difference being the ugly JVC Zartan. Why not a v1 Zartan and one Hawk figure (which can be used as Hawk and Zartan disguising as him). I guess we'll find out soon enough.
