Man it would be awesome to see a post about a sighting for up north, but I won't hold my breath.

Someone posted seeing 10 each of Zartan and Infantry at Pointe Claire EB back in March.

Let's hear from anyone.  Don't see much in the way of sightings for the maritimes pretty much anywhere.

On another site someone last posted in September 2020.

Not much reported on other sites for Alberta outside of Zartan showing up at EB.

So nothing seems to be reported for Saskatchewan on the other site I frequent.  Which is good for collectors there I guess.

For Manitoba there is at least one person reporting, with a mention of 3 Zartan at a local EB.

Figured I would see if this gets any attention, although I doubt it.

On another site I frequent there hasn't been much in the way of sightings since March.  Although they did say they found the Zartan/Infantry wave at a TRU.

Reviews Section / Classified Cobra Infantry. The King (for now)
« on: April 17, 2021, 08:37:41 AM »
So I have lucked out and managed to grab 4 if this figure.  Considering the $@#+ show of trying to get the CI Trooper, I will take this an run.

So the figure is basically the CI Trooper with fewer accessories.

However I can't say enough about how great this figure is, both from a figure standpoint, and from an updated Cobra trooper standpoint.

The detailing at the 6" scale really comes through.  The colour is a nice muted Cobra blue that gives it a bit more realistic look.  The helmet fits really well, and the face paint (photo realistic) is great.

The accessories are great, with a nice selection of guns.  Actual guns, not sci-fi laser cannons, I'm looking at you Roadblock.  Everything also has a spot on the vest/body which is always a good thing.

The range of motion is as to be expected with a modern 6" figure.  Really good range overall so you can get some great poses.  I know it may sound greedy, but I would have loved to have a stand included.  However it isn't a deal breaker by any means.

The biggest negative to me is the vest not being removable, well not without some major work.  This should be a given for any, and all, Joe figures.  It would also allow for more customization/swapping among figures.

Also I wish they would have kept the files cards, but that is a minor gripe.

I have most of the Classified line so far, and by far this is my favourite figure.  It is stunning, to me, and really combines the best of ARAH and modern styling.

Now hopefully I can find the Viper and Firefly.

General Joe Talk / Thoughts on Classified and Retro lines?
« on: March 26, 2021, 10:25:06 PM »
Well I think it is high time some discussion started up again on the board.  Don't know if anyone is still around, but here goes.

Retro:

I haven't seen much in store from this line so I can't speak to it very much.  Figure wise I am not impressed.  They look good, but the quality is pretty bad.  At least based on the Cobra Pilot I opened.  It felt "gummy" and cheap like it would be something you would find in a dollar store.

The Fang is the only vehicle I picked up since I never found the AWE or HISS.  The box art is great, and it definitely feels like a "retro" throwback.  However I find the updates to the Fang completely unnecessary, and frankly detract from the vehicle.

I get that it was done to add a bit of heft/weight to the vehicle, but it comes across as unnecessary fiddling.  I'm sure the AWE and HISS are fine since they seem to be simple re-releases.

Classified:

After a bit of an underwhelming start, the line is really coming on strong.  Excluding the stupid Cobra Island exclusives, I have been loving the newer releases.  Zartan and Cobra Infantry are outstanding.  Destro is amazing!  I can't wait for more reveals on April 9th during the Hasbro FanFest.

I got my preorder Zartan and Cobra Infantry from EB Games this week.  Man they are both big steps up in quality and sculpt from wave 1 of Classified.

Also saw 2 Retro Cobra Fangs at my local Walmart today (Barrhaven).  I'm not a big fan of the new Fang, and the figure is terrible.

General Joe Talk / New GI Joe toyline in the works!!!!
« on: November 04, 2019, 02:54:57 PM »
So over on Hisstank they are reporting that artist Furio Tedeschi is working as a freelance production artist for their new toyline.

Obviously with a new movie in production a toyline was all but inevitable.  However it is nice to have some hard evidence.  Can't wait to see what they come up with.  Hopefully the vehicles are a better offering than last two me.

Either way it will be great to see Joe on the shelves once again.

General Joe Talk / GI Joe: Snake Eyes
« on: November 09, 2018, 02:40:07 PM »
So finally some news to report in the land of Joe.  The next movie, apparently titled "GI Joe: Snake Eyes" is in production.  They officially moved from pre-production to production.  Not actual filming yet, but a concrete step to get it going.

Anyone else happy to see the news?  The question now is how will they treat the character?  Will it be a reboot?  Questions, questions, questions....

General Joe Talk / State of GI Joe and Joecanuck.
« on: August 02, 2018, 09:26:29 AM »
So I figured I would start a thread just to see how things are going.

Obviously GI Joe is at one of it's lowest points in the history of the brand.  No toyline, no show, and talk of another movie possibly being worked on but no signs of anything happening.  Hell not even a SDCC exclusive toy like the last few years.  Thankfully the comics are still going, but that seems to be all there is right now.

As for Joecanuck, well I think we (those of us still checking in) can safely say that it is the same here.  I personally still check in from time to time, but I no longer check daily like I used  up until earlier this year.  I miss the old days of course, but I understand why the site has gone so quiet.

I would love it if Hasbro could pull a surprise like they just did with a new round of G1 reissues for the transformer line, on old school packaging.  Do the same thing with GI Joe, even though most of the ARAH molds are gone.  It would be nice, but I know it won't happen due to lack of support, and the lack of interest in selling"war" toys.  Especially without a corresponding media tie-in.

Anyway, anyone still out there who wants to chime in with an opinion?
