General Joe Talk / 2010 Convention Canadian Cobra Moray ?
« on: January 05, 2013, 10:14:24 PM »
Anyone ever hear about this one?  It was a custom Moray from the 2010 convention that was apparently a door prize?  First time I am hearing about this.....does anyone know anything?  It is on E-Bay now...link is below.

Thanks!

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Manta Release ?
« on: September 05, 2012, 02:23:02 PM »
I left the convention early so I did not get to hear the panel.  Of course, I downloaded the WOJM podcast and was able to hear it yesterday.

The Mantis release (Mantis, right ?) sounds like a great idea.

Is that going to happen?  Any plans to do a Cobra North AND Joe version, like was contemplated on the podcast ?

That would be awsome.

JoeCanuck Trading Cards / Question on Trading Cards
« on: June 17, 2012, 07:01:23 PM »
Hi - apologies if this is a daft question, but how hard are the trading cards to obtain ?  I only have a few of them now, but I like to complete the set....they are pretty cool.  I saw a complete set on-line for maybe $30 and was not sure if that was a good / bad deal.  Can anyone give their thoughts?

Thanks!

General Joe Talk / Take Down Appreciation Thread
« on: May 19, 2012, 02:58:42 PM »
I just picked up last year's set and am really impressed with Take Down, in particular.  What a cool character and figure.  Very creative.  He is huge, has a bad ass look with the hair and sunglasses, and has a background in MMA.  He is sort of a Dreadnok, meets Slaughter, meets 2012 (or 2011, as it may be).  He is definitely the best of the 2011 vintage, in my view.

I have to free up some space in my cabinet, but he will be prominently and proudly displayed with the rest of my collection very soon.  I know I'm late to the game on this one, but do others have the same love for Take Down?

General Joe Talk / What is the CID unit?
« on: May 16, 2012, 12:08:27 AM »
I believe this unit was started sometime after I stopped collecting.  Maybe it was part of Spy Troops, but what is it exactly?  Seems like it is a sort of internal affairs for the Joes?  I think BullHorn was recast as a member and I think Sure Fire is.  Not sure if anyone else is.  Anyone know?  I was thinking of using the Bruce Willis figure (read John McClain) as a CID member.  Seems like a weird team.

Hi, I am looking for the WWE Build 'N Brawl Ring.  Specifically, I am looking for the Toys R Us edition, which came with 2 figures.  One is John Cena and I believe the second is Triple H.  Make by JAKKS.  The ring is apparently larger than the other version.  Building a training dio and it would be a great accessory for it.  Thanks.

Introductions / Hello from NYC
« on: May 12, 2012, 09:42:57 PM »
Hi, I just joined and wanted to introduce myself.  I am 38 and started collecting as a child in 1982.  Ironically, my first figure was Breaker, which I still have, along with everything else from my childhood.  I stopped collecting in the late '80s and then put everything in my parent's attic.

I got back to collecting when RoC came out.  I never saw the movie, but started collecting the movie figures and then the PoC figures.  I told myself I would not pick up the 25th figs, but I quickly broke that promise and started buying the figs I had missed from 2007 - 2009, or so.  Then I got into the convention sets and custom figures.  I collect everything, but really aim for completeness of the Joes.

I really just discovered Canada Con and the Canadian mythos recently.  I think it is great and am getting into it now.  Actually, I will be going to the convention in a couple of months.

The aspect of collecting that I really like, is that you always seems to learn more.  There are always some sets, figs or something that you never heard about.....that's the great part about the line and collecting.  Anyway, cheers, glad to join.
