For Sale or Trade / Figures / Vehicles for sale
« on: May 23, 2011, 08:50:34 PM »
Hey, guys.  Been a while since I've been here.  Unfortunately, this time it's to see if there are any buyers for a lot of 25th anniversary era Joes.  I don't have a list, yet...  just wanted to see if there was interest.  It would be for the Montreal and Ottawa areas.  I can ship to others, but you'd have to pay for that.  Ideally, I'd like to sell it all as one big lot...  most of them out of their packaging.

Let me know if I should post them and I'll get to sorting them through.

Thanks, all.  Hope you're all still doing well

General Joe Talk / The Larry Hama Experience...
« on: September 14, 2010, 12:28:37 PM »
I'm going to do a bit of boasting because I'm still on Cloud #9 over this...

So this weekend past I went to Montreal Comic Con.  Larry Hama and Herb Trimpe were in attendance and signing stuff.  I was able to get both their signatures on some early GI Joes including #1, #2 and Special Missions #1.  Plus Hama's on a handful of other GI Joes, Nth Man, Wolverine, Sabertooth #1 and Star Wars (one that he wrote and one that he did the cover art for - which, by the way, he was totally pleased at seeing again)

But the real highlights were the sketches Hama did for me.  I went on day 1 and got a sketch of Storm Shadow with plans to go back and get one of Snake Eyes.  My friend noticed that all of Hamas sketches were either facing straight or right-profile, so he suggested I ask for Snake Eyes on the left-profile...  So, I did.  Hama handed it to me and told me that it was the first time he had ever drawn a left-profile of Snake Eyes.  I'm super stoked because on my wall is the first-ever left-profile of Snake Eyes as drawn by Hama...

For Sale or Trade / GI Joe vs. Cobra - Cheap to a good home
« on: August 31, 2009, 10:09:58 PM »
I'm cleaning up my place in anticipation of a move and etcetera...

I have a bunch of GI Joe vs. Cobra era figures that I'd like to try an unload.

I'm open to trades - but will sell the whole lot for cheap.  Unfortunately I have to do an all-in sort of deal...  I'd like to get them goned in one fell swoop.  And unfortunately again, I can only do Paypal for it.  But, when I say cheap, I'm talking under $10 cheap, you just pay shipping.

Here's the list...

- Wetsuit (Version 7) - Complete
- Cobra Moray (Version 1) - missing a flipper (or, wetsuit is missing a flipper and this guy's complete...  toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe)
- Storm Shadow (Version 7) - Complete (some yellowing in the scabbard and tunic)
- Snake Eyes (Version 10) - Complete
- Dr. Mindbender (Version 4) - Missing Scanner & Shotgun
- Dart (Version 2) - Missing Backpack & Shotgun
- Heavy Duty (Version 4 with logo) - Complete
- CLAWS (Version 1) - Complete
- Frostbite (Version 4) - Complete
- Neo Viper (Version 1) - missing missiles & short rifle
- Destro (Version 7) - missing phone & rifle
- Gung Ho (Version 8) - Complete

Cobra Commander's (Version 17) staff and cape
Dice's staff

Plus, I'll send you whatever extra accessories I find as I clean up (at my own expense)

If you're interested or have a trade suggestion, give me a shout.

General Joe Talk / 25th Custom Compatibles
« on: August 06, 2009, 04:41:22 PM »
So, I want to try my hand at making a few custom figures and was wondering what selection I could choose from that would be compatible with the 25th anniversary styles...

It kind of looks like the new Marvel figures would be interchangeable with 25th Ann Joe parts.  And, I guess, all the old Indy figures

Anyone have any suggestions?  Should I stick to just Joe parts for making customs, or would it be safe to branch out into other lines?

Thanks

General Joe Talk / A Question Of Loyalties...
« on: July 25, 2009, 09:45:57 AM »
So, this is a question that went through my head a few days ago, and I thought it might be fun to ask.  It's based off the following hypothetical scenario:

We know the GI Joe License changes hands, every now and again.  Not the toy licenses (In North America, anyway) but the Cartoon and Comic licenses.  And we know that with the current recession, we've seen a lot of different companies sell off assets in order to remain afloat (Chrysler comes to mind).

In the unlikely event that Hasbro ever sold the GI Joe toy license to another manufacturer, would you still be as loyal to the Joe brand?  Or would you be of the mind;  "Not Hasbro, not really the same GI Joe"?

Off Topic / Classic Comic Collections: Chapters.
« on: June 28, 2009, 02:01:20 PM »
The anthologies of the 80's era comics are at Chapter's.  Right now, you get "buy three, get fourth free" on all books in the store, including Graphic Novels.

Picked up the GI Joe [s:2449q6dt]Best[/s:2449q6dt] Worst of Cobra Commander.  Waiting 'til after I scope out the deals at Fan Expo to get the rest, but it's a pretty good price, nevertheless.

General Joe Talk / You know it'll be bad when: G.I. Joe Edition
« on: June 14, 2009, 10:22:07 PM »
In theory, a G.I. Joe movie is a great idea.  In practice:

But tell me you didn't see that coming.  Maybe not the director getting canned, but that GI Joe would end up being a stinker.

I consider myself to be both a GI Joe fan and a fan of the new re-imaging modern movies are taking...  But GI Joe should have stuck to it's roots.

Off Topic / Star Wars @ Winners
« on: March 23, 2009, 11:59:32 PM »
I was just visiting my local Winners and saw the Clone Wars AT-TE ($60, I think) and Millennium Falcon ($99)

I don't know if that's a good price for them...  I don't collect them, so it seemed kind of steep.

Figured I'd share, in case anyone was looking - you might have luck at Winner's

Off Topic / Advice?
« on: March 15, 2009, 07:11:43 PM »
Alright, I'm wondering what you guys think:

I have a few surplus Canadian-Card Joes that I bought a few months back from Walmart.  Now, I'm cleaning up and want to try and sell them...

My first thought is to bring them back to Walmart.  I don't have the receipts anymore, but does Walmart do store-credit exchanges without receipts?
Or, I could try selling them, but I really don't think I'd get anything/much for the effort it would take.

Do you think it's worth bringing them back to Walmart to try an exchange?  or, has anyone had luck/failure returning to walmart without a receipt?

Thanks

General Joe Talk / Black-Mask Destro
« on: November 06, 2008, 06:40:36 PM »
I'm wondering how rare this variant is.  I found one early on in the wave's release at Toys R Us and have been keeping it un-opened because, last I heard, it was rare.  Is it really all that rare?  They don't seem to be selling all that high on eBay - but eBay can be deceiving, depending on when you look.  I don't really want to open it then find out it's very rare - and I don't want to try my luck at selling or trading it, unless I can get something I need for it.

Anyone know?

Ontario / Lost of things to spend money on:
« on: October 31, 2008, 01:10:56 PM »
I just paid my local comic shop a visit...  They had a LOT out.

- All the recent waves, and many of last year's - all on American Card.
- At least 5 of the Firebat and 3 of the new AWE Strikers.  (the claw and fang are on the way)
- 1, 2, 3 and 4 DVD Packs
- At least 3 each of the first wave of vehicles (the complete wave, with the Trouble Bubble and Armadillo)
- one each of every comic pack

And coming in this afternoon:

- Both of the arctic and desert missions sets

I had to force myself not to break out the plastic many times, and only bought Croc Master.

But, if anyone here is looking for any of these, and you don't want to wait and/or spend a ton in gas looking for them, let me know - I can pick them up for you.  Send me a PM, if interested.
