General Joe Talk / Are there any Canucks that are Members of the GIJCC?
« on: September 04, 2009, 08:40:46 PM »
Hi guys,

I'm a trooper level (free) member of the GIJCC (GIJoe Collector's Club). Basically, all I get are emails a few times a year. I got one tonight with a bunch of Labour-day specials at the club store and that has me debating whether to upgrade to Officer level membership. I checked the cost and I'm a little confused. It offers me 3 choices:

Third Class mail: 42$
First Class Mail: 42$
Canada Airmail: 63$

As a canuck, do I have to go with the third (most expensive) option?

Thanks,

OB

General Joe Talk / Joes in the Sears Wish Book
« on: August 11, 2009, 08:14:57 PM »
The 2009 Sears Wish Book was waiting in the mailbox when I got home. They have some RoC items on p831:

Pit: 129.99
Night Raven: 49.99
Bravo Vehicles: 29.99
SE mask and gear: 29.99
12'' figures: 29.99
16'' Accelerator Suit Duke: 99.99 (Ouch!)

Also, and more interestingly IMHO, on p832, there are a bunch of PTE items. Some are the same as last year, but they have a new battlefield playset that looks like a bombed-out building (with 12 figs, a bike, a camel, a horse and a bunch of accessories) for 49.99. Also they have the Infantry Fighting Vehicle (with a fast-attack jeep, 6 figs and accessories) for 39.99. I'll definately be ordering those two new sets.

General Joe Talk / My GI Joe Day
« on: August 07, 2009, 09:19:39 PM »
I started my GI Joe day with a trip to TRU on my lunch hour. I figured that 5$ was a great price for some fodder. To my surprise, they had the Paris Pursuit wave. Picked up RA Scarlett, RA Duke x2, PP SE x3 and a Steel Crusher.

I finished work a few minutes before 3pm and caught the 3:10 showing of ROC. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It really is the cartoon come to life. It reminded me of how I used to play with my Joes when I was a kid. The opening scene with Snake Eyes (and the other Joes) taking down those Vipers in the forrest gave me chills. I was a bit disappointed with the ending, but overall, it was a fun movie.

After the movie, I crossed the street to the mall. Winners had some leftover 25th figs. I picked up a BAT and Wraith. After that I checked a small hobby store and they also had some 25th figs. Found an Airborne and 2 EELS!

To top it all off, I got home and a small package was waiting for me in my mailbox. It contained 3 25th Vipers and a couple of black Resolute CCs I got cheap on Ebay.

Today was a great GI Joe day!

Introductions / Hi, I'm New!
« on: July 20, 2008, 08:49:42 AM »
Greetings! I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I figured I would introduce myself. Here goes: my name is Kevin, I'm 31 years old, I rediscovered Joes about 4 years ago and I am Canadian! (Sorry, I guess I had to get that off my chest  ;D). Some of us might know each other from JoeCustoms. I've been posting there for a while.

I'm glad to hear that there is a strong Canadian Joe community and I'm looking forward to discussing with you guys.
