Specialty stores and their prices...yikes!
« on: March 25, 2008, 01:04:50 PM »

I don't get it, hopped across the street to Heroe's World during lunch to see if they had any 25A stuff because I'm really looking for a loose Battle Armor CC and Torpedo.

It was impressive to see their display - a half wall of carded joes up to the current wave - something I haven't seen since the 80s, then I saw the price tags.  $19.99 per figure!?! Are you kidding me?  Not only is our dollar roughly on par with the States, and taking into consideration cross-border taxes et. al., how can they seriously mark up the price by 300%?

The comic pack waves were all there too for $29.99 and I was too scared to even look at the Legions 5-pack.

Granted places like this and Toys Toys Toys aren't known for "best deals" but I can't even justify why the 300% markup!  I'm so happy the convention is 3 weeks away...

y'know didn't bother to look carefully through.

But they did have all of wave 3 upwards.  3 Battle Armor CCs and 3 Torpedos...but a little bit of me died inside when I saw the price tag.  Don't these guys check out eBay or something?

The Joe meet is only a few weeks away. You have a good chance of finding one there.

I didn't want to start an new thread for this and "Specialty Shops" seems like the best category...

The Comic Book Shoppe in Ottawa (the one out West on Merivale, by Clyde) had two of the 5-packs (no price marked and I didn't ask) GI Joe team version, a few newer figures on American Cards and a few comic packs out.  One of the only places in Ottawa that I could find a healthy stock.
