For Sale or Trade / Bandy's 2 MASSIVE eBay auctions!!!
« on: May 13, 2009, 03:46:54 PM »
Hey peeps - I've decided to give up my carded 25th collection - I'm not appreciating it as I once was.  So please bid often =)

Bandy's 2 Massive eBay auctions!

I know, I'd make more splitting up the lot but hey if some wholesaler is interested in getting these on the cheap then it makes it easier for me too (plus listing fees for multiple auctions are insane!)

Good luck!
I'm alrigt with local pick-up too

General Joe Talk / current state of Canadian retailer toy market?
« on: March 26, 2009, 09:42:02 AM »
Hey guys, I'd like to be in the "know" about what's going on here with our retailers.  Since xmas, the toy movement on the shelves have stood still.  The Indy figure line died and I still don't see a clearance price on these guys, and they're perpetually warming the shelves.

The only new G.I. Joe product we got was the latest Cobra/Joe 5-packs and the hideous VvV-tribute pack.  HISS tanks and Serpentor Air Chariots have baraccaded themselves in the toy aisle and don't plan to give up.

I understand Hasbro is gearing up with the movie toys, and retailers aren't buying anything more, but c'mon - not even wave 12 or 13?  No Resolute 5-pack?

And I haven't been following this fantastic toyline for long, but Canada doesn't get DCUC generally?  I've been to TRU, Wal*Mart, Toys Toys Toys and I keep seeing the same junk over and over.  I mean if the things can't sell at normal price, at least put them on clearance to free up some room!

For Sale or Trade / Vehicles for sale - Canada only!
« on: February 15, 2009, 10:34:24 PM »
Hey guys,  space is becoming a precious commodity lately so I'm off-loading some of the bigger vehicles in my collection.  Because of the size and weight of these vehicles I'm only selling them to Canadian residences.  All prices are in Canadian and include shipping - Paypal only too.

PATRIOT GRIZZLY - $40
- Simply put, best tank ever.  Everything works, has been only used for display.  Missile launching mechanism launches projectiles pretty damn far!  Blueprints included

NIGHT ATTACH CHOOPER (DESERT) - $35
- My favourite vehicle, everything works, projectiles all there, sounds and lights are there, blueprints included.

RATTLER - $35
- Recently released for the 25th Anniversary line, very beautiful - I used stickers from cobrastickers.com

1985 AWE STRIKER - $20
- This was my pride and joy, a completely mint AWE Striker from 1985, no decals applied, clean!  Blueprints included, sorry don't have the sticker sheet

JJ & Melanie are radio personalities on the 93.5 Flow FM mornign show in Toronto that I listen to on the way to work.  Well yesterday they rattled off the top-ten xmas toy list for this year and at the end of that segment Melanie asked JJ what his favourite toy was growing up, and of course he emphasized how great G.I. Joe was.

So when I got to work I fired him a quick e-mail to make him aware of all the great Joe-communities that are still out there, and linked him to the JoeCanuck Newsletter that just came out minutes before.  Here was his reply:

Hey thanks for the email Alexander.  This stuff sounds great, when I was kid we didn't have a lot of money to keep me up to date with GI Joes, so I played with  "Snakeeyes, Gung Ho and The Baroness" for a long time...too long...waay too long. I'm sure other guys have a similar story. I'll for sure mention your email tomorrow on the show.

Thanks for listening
JJ.

- of course I accidentally slept in this in this morning and raced to work (never workout at 10PM and go to bed, bad) - so I didn't get to hear the whole show :(

For Sale or Trade / Arg! *LOOSE* TFA Snarl for Double Clutch?
« on: October 23, 2008, 02:52:24 PM »
hey guys - got TFA Swoop and Snarl in yesterday and stupid Swoop broke! I don't plan on buying another Swoop so Snarl is the odd-robot-out in my collection. Very frustrated, but there might be a silver lining yet -

If you're in the market for a loose mint Snarl I'd be happy to trade 'em for a 25th Anniversary (Double) Clutch if you have one to spare - I want to do a little custom mod and it would be a perfect opportunity.

PM if you're interested.

Ontario / Canadian carded wave 9 at TRU Cederbrae
« on: October 17, 2008, 08:19:59 AM »
I get my hair-cut back in the hood, so when I'm down in Scarb-eria I make a stop at the TRU at Lawerence & Markham Rd because they actually carry a fair bit of joe-product.

Anyways, for shame on the person who was there before me but they had wave 9 canadian cards scattered all over the ground.  I picked up a Snow Serpent from the bottom of the display unit and did my best to peg back the rest because I actually want this stuff to sell and not left scattered about like garbage.

Of course there were no BATs - probably why everything was in disarray to begin with.

Lots of DVD packs 1 & 2 and I think I saw those 5-pack CGs and Greenshirts.  There was also 1 Destro/IG CP but he was gold head.

General Joe Talk / sharing some more pics of my recent arrivals!
« on: October 09, 2008, 04:49:28 PM »
What can I say, these two figures are must-haves for your collection.  You've already read the reviews on Croc (I said CROC!) Master so the bite on his bicep is well documented.  Overall the whole sculpt and attention to detail is fantastic, however with a critical eye: 1) his legs feel a bit spindley considering he's supposed to be large and powerful, to put it into perspective, Mutt's legs look bigger and 2) If you didn't like the mid-torso articulation to begin with, well because of his croc-textured tank top, it's even more glaring in certain poses.

Here's a shot of my Michaels 1:18 scale animal farm crocodile next to the 25th and the original - no contest I say.

Next is Mutt.  Yes Junkyard has his junk but even more so, next to the original Junkyard, this one looks pretty realistic.  Mutt is also a nice sculpt, highly detailed once again and a future look at Resolute/Sigma6/25th Anniversary Duke and Lift-Ticket because I think they all share the same mold.  Now I'm really looking forward to Lift-Ticket and the Skyhawk.

Last pic is for Pete the Greek.  The heads from the original 25th Joes fit rather loosely on these DVD-pack Cobra Trooper necks, but I'm sure wave 11 Cobra Flint will have that corrected so we can all do the Mutt switch and reinact that famous cartoon scene in Pyramid of Darkness when they meet/recruit Shipwreck.
