Title: 25th anniversary waves 1 and 2 at Toys R Us
Post by: morgardee on October 14, 2007, 03:20:31 PM
Not sure how a case works out or not but the had wave 1 Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow (2 of each), Buzzer (1), Lady Jaye (1), Serpentor (1), and Beach Head (1). They don't even show up when I used the price checker so I had to ask. They are going for $9.99 each. The girl told me it's 8 figure per case when I asked if there were any more cases in the back. No more cases in the back but someone was asking about them yesterday so another collector might have bought the army builders.

I bought Buzzer and Beach Head. Serpentor and Lady Jaye looked goofy and I just placed an order for Snake eyes and Storm Shadow from the MC group.

Oh yeah, for those who don't know me, my stomping ground is K-W, so that's where I saw these. Still haven't seen the 5 pack here.

Yep.  TRU in Whitby has the singles in too. As of this afternoon, there were about 3 Beachheads, 2 Sepentors and 3 Buzzers.

Here too, they didnt' come up on SKU scan and there were no more in the back and no more showing on order.

After there were only 2 Beacheads.  :)

It figures they would show up after I bought them online. The crazy thing is that they're basically the same price when shipped from the states. It's hard to believe that Hasbro would price them so high in Canada. I wonder if they will ever ship to the point where they will be widely available. At this point it doesn't look that way.

I checked with my local tru and they might be getting them next week but they told me that only certain stores are getting them. It might just be 1 or 2 cases of figures.
They also told me to check out the other tru's around my area, they might have them in stock but not in the system.

Figures they show up when I am out of the province.  But I am awaiting my order from ebay top show up as the two waves I won had the variant Timber in it.

I am surprised wave 2 has been released up here this fast.

Were the figures actually out along with the Sigma 6 stuff, or somewhere else?

In K-Town, yes, along with the Sigma 6 stuff.

Sorry Mo, I was there on Lunch at the horrible new King's buffet. :puke:  It was unplanned.

I found 2 hidden buzzers at the hamilton one, bought one and put the other back on a peg. A kid was looking at it, but he didn't look like he could afford $10.

I was hoping for beachhead, but ces't la vie.

With all the availability troubles even in the US, I wonder if we'll see any more of these anytime soon.  I'm hoping that my Christmas there will be at least something to choose from, but between now and then I have little hope.

Was at the Woodbridge store today. Picked up Buzzer and a Trooper. They didn't even scan in, they had to scan in some sigma figure and re-price to $9.99. Someone beat me to Beachhead and Lady Jaye though. I left behind a Serpentor and Storm Shadow if anyone is interested.

You were lucky to get the trooper. I'm sort of kicking myself for not ordering the wave 1 figures when they first came out in the US. I'm starting to think they will be skipped in Canada and now it's going to be hard to find them.

With the strong Canadian dollar, it's cheaper to buy them from the US right now anyway (even including shipping)

Hopefully Hasbro will get their act together and produce these in much greater quantities (including wave 1). I bought wave one on ebay (minus Flint) for just under $40 Canadian, shipped which is still cheaper than the Toys R Us price. Still, it was cool to find the one lonely peg there at TRU with the bunch of 25th figures it had.

Has there been any sign of TRU actually re-stocking these beyond the 1 or 2 cases some stores seemed to have received?

TRU in St. Catharines got in 2 of each of the first set of 5 packs. That's it. Now there isn't even shelf space for the 25th.

Stealth Viper, if you do happen to see an extra Flint and Cobra Officer can you let me know...I know those are Wave 1 but cybertron.ca says a few of those are trickling in (although they may just mean the carry-overs CC, SE & SS).

I have been to 4 TRUs in my area: one TRU had Serpentor, Buzzer, Cobra Trooper, SS and CC, one TRU only had CC and the other two TRUs had none.  So if you guys are looking to get complete waves, go the ebay route. It's next to impossible right now to complete a wave set with this crappy one/two case crap distribution.  Plus it's cheaper.

Agreed, I got the troop builder 5 pack shipped for less than $40 Canadian. Sad that I can get it across the border and to my door cheaper than I can buy it at retail...

Has anyone ever dealt with The Big Bad Toy Store (online store)? I currently have wave 3 pre-ordered from there (cheaper than what it would cost to find all five at Toys R Us) and I was wondering if anyone had any previous experiences they'd like to share.

Never dealt with them.  And I don't even bother with pre-orders any more.

Hmm. I hope I'm not wasting my time. I've bought 4/5ths of wave 1 (minus Flint) for less than Canadian Toys R Us retail and wave 2 for just about Can. retail on ebay so far. Maybe I should try the ebay route again.

I can vouch for them - and I normally don't vouch for online stores.

I've purchased from them a few times. Never had a problem with them.

I agree on pre-orders. I was burned a few times going that way. Never again will I place a pre-order.

well i used guru-planet for my preorder of the first wave, i got them all, but i didn't get them till about 3 weeks ago....so for the next pre-orders i am currenlty using bigbadtoystore....they seem to be good, they want you to pay for what they get in stock (so right now i have wave 2, 3 and the cobra wave 2 - pack, with them) so the wave 2 five pack just came in so they sent me a payment to pay for that portion of it....which is kinda nice so if something comes up i don't have to cancel part of my order, just pay for what they have recieved.

but then i am patient,

I just placed my order with smalljoes.com. I've never had a problem with Corey and the best deal is the full case (consists of 1 each: Shipwreck, Red Ninja, Firefly, Zartan, Sgt. Stalker, Snake-Eyes w/ wolf, Storm Shadow (hooded version), and Cobra Officer for $47.99 At first I was just just going to order the five wave 3 figures for $42.99 but for an extra five bucks you get A cobra Officer which I had missed from wave one as well as extra Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Good deal.
