Will you back this project?

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/skyboundent/gi-joe-a-real-american-hero-compendium-set?ref=checkout_rewards_page

I have never backed a Kickstarter before, but this is very tempting.

How does it work for the pledge?  Meaning do they charge any taxes, or shipping after the funding is over or is it just the $300?  $300US is a big ask to get a whole set, but it would be nice to get one with everything and not have to worry about collecting the retail releases over the years.

I expect it will cost at least another $100 USD to ship. And some Kickstarters (like the 3DJoes book) don't collect tax, but declare commercial value on their customs forms (technically Kickstarter rewards are gifts, not sold merchandise, so their bad), so expect import fees too.

Dave, Pete and I did a road trip to Indianapolis for the G.I. Joe Convention in 2013. I got to spend a lot of one-on-one time with Dave as we didn't know a ton of the American fans and kept each other company. He was a really sweet guy with a light sense of humour. He was also a fairly prolific musician in the Kitchener/Waterloo punk scene.

There's a going to be a memorial concert on June 14 in Kitchener. I plan on making the trip over from Toronto. If anyone wants a ride, I have some seats open in my vehicle.

It definitely looks like they've done an about-face on redesigning the characters and are just doing hyper-detailed 6" versions of the classic look.

Can't say I disagree with the approach.

Counting down the days until I get my Croc Master...

This is the most exciting thing I've seen Joe-wise since Resolute.

Bring it on!

Am I signed in?

Sorry, confused why the welcome message called me 'Joe Canuck'...

My bad. The news headline "Welcome back JoeCanuck" was a reference to the theme returning. I can change it to something more newsworthy...

I did my best to restore the old JoeCanuck theme. If you see anything wonky, let me know and I'll look into it.

You might need to clear your cache to reload the images referenced in the css file.

Would this help?

Sorry I'm not here much.

It doesn't cost very much money to keep *this* site going. As long as you guys want it around, I'll make sure it's around. Over the summer I was looking into finding the old assets for the message board (banners/colours/etc) but I think they're gone forever.

I've been going to school for writing over the past couple years. Maybe that will translate into more content for gijoe-canada.com

Yes. Yes it would.

The only thing I would be interested is in dioramas.  If would make the figures in display cases pop.

I know a guy in the west end who does those. He was selling a B.E.T. and wings for Nemesis Enforcer. Some really cool stuff. As you would expect, custom work is really expensive.

I have no interest in GI JOE figures that have the same shitty articulation as the original Star Wars figures.

Think of them as G.I. Joe figures for Super7 collectors. They're not for us.

My Toys "R" Us (Yonge & Eglinton) never seems to have anything Joe except the Cobra Island Roadblock.

Almost everything I've bought so far has been from an e-tailer, so no TRU exclusives for me. I think the Classified figures are great, but collecting has become a bit of a drag. At least the things I can't snag from an e-tailer.

I've never seen any Joe stuff ever at Dufferin Mall Wal-Mart.

The only store that doesn't let me down ironically is EB Games who seem to always have what I'm looking for (Red Alert, Bluestreak, Pirate Deadpool)

It seems like anything remotely interesting is scooped up by scalpers. I saw a dude pushing a shopping cart just loading up one day.

General Joe Talk / Re: G.I. Joe Retro listed on Walmart.ca

I was able to order Roadblock, Destro and Scarlett. While my order sat idle, product made it to stores, sold out, and then my unfulfilled order was cancelled by Walmart. Not fun.

Figures look great though!
