Off Topic / Why Wil Wheaton (and nerdity in general) is awesome
« on: April 28, 2013, 08:15:48 PM »
At Calgary Expo yesterday, a new mom asked Wil Wheaton to give a message to her daughter about why being a nerd is awesome.

His response is beautiful, elegant, and unleashed an army of onion-cutting Arashikage ninjas upon the room (there wasn’t a dry eye in the house).

Wil Wheaton - Why it's awesome to be a nerd

One of the booths has an incomplete terrordrome for $200.

Boxed 83 HQ for $125 (box is in rough shape)
Moray without a price tag.
A pair of tomahawks.  One for $75, couldn't see the tag on t'other.

The only missing items were one of the searchlights, and one of the trays.  I put it on my comic-boxes, and there wasn't enough room for the helipad.

A bunch of broken tabs including both cameras, one of the machine guns, and 3 of the stockade walls (Wall C-beside the Vamp bay, and both of the "front" walls beside the door.)

A bunch of the decals could stand to be upgraded too (and swapped with Canadian ones, eh ;) )

Found a unit which required some TLC at one of the Chinook and Hobby stores in Calgary.

It needs some work, but with a bit of help from the Mike, and others, I'll have it back up and running.

Anyone going to Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo this year?

Could be a chance for a meet up

Last year had both Hama and Trempe, but this year does not look quite as Joe rich for guests.  However, there's usually a good amount of Joe gear in the exhibitor's hall.

Saw them in a TRU in Calgary.

I remember opening up MOBAT one Christmas morning.  And the heartbreak that came when I discovered that the Steeler had a faulty o-ring.  He flew apart in my hands moments after I got him out of the blister.

My dad shipped it back to Hasbro, and they sent me a new one within a month or so.

Then later that summer, I was playing with it at a friends house, and it rolled down a hill, spilling Steeler, and I never found him again.

Until a couple of years ago on eBay.

Saw a boxed Flagg at the north store last weekend.  Only $1300 or so.

Oh, if I only had the budget (and spousal permission units!)
