Customs / Introducing... Serpentor's HATE Chariot!
« on: July 21, 2009, 01:22:22 AM »
I took Mike's statement that he couldn't figure out how to make the air chariot not suck for the convention box set to heart and I grabbed one of the free extra chariots from the door. I decided to make this one gold like what the original should have looked like since HASBRO decided not to give us the metallic flaked plastic from the originals. Same with Bluestreak the Transformer G1 remake, he has metal paint on the metal and then the plastic parts were just gray. Is this type of plastic not available anymore, or what? I am working on a Silver one next! Hey do you guys still have any of those extra air chariots left? I need more! I guess I could use some Cobra stickers too. And I need to touch up the grill. I fixed the rear engine intake where the original was recessed and in the 25th version the vent is specially remade to fit on the outside of the rim thereby looking stupid and making less room for ol' Serpy's foot.:cobra:

General Joe Talk / Help with opening glued figures!
« on: June 23, 2009, 12:57:11 AM »
Hey there everyone, I recently bought a pack of 100 fresh O-rings and was merrily replacing all my staff's innards when I found that my Zartan seems to be glued shut. The screw comes out but he still doesn't come apart at the seams. Do any of you customizing fiends out there have any advice or tips on how to pry him apart without breaking him? Also I have a Tripwire with a stripped screw head that I can't turn.. I know you guys deal with these types of issues all the time so I figured there might be some special trick or something.. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :cobra:

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Thanks for the great show, guys!
« on: May 02, 2009, 08:45:22 PM »
I had a really good time! Thanks a lot for putting on this event, we could see that you worked really hard on it! I am fully enjoying my Hate tank! I grabbed a couple of Target planes and a Resolute 5 pack while I was there. I really enjoyed talking to the Hasbro rep. (What was his name anyways?) I didn't get the chance to talk to Mark Bellomo and I wish that I had bought a copy of his book but I had to leave early. Did he leave any copies with you? Sorry I didn't get the chance to talk to you guys more! I will definitely be seeing you next year!

I am planning on getting there early, where is there a good spot? Anything free? Maybe just close by would be better.. I was thinking, if I was lucky enough to get a convention set I would probably not want to put it in my car and then go back inside the show :shifty:

I was looking at these three MARS troopers and the thing that struck me was that they were as much shorter than 25th version figures as classic Joes. (Like half a head shorter.) The waist and upper legs seem blockier. Even Resolute guys are shorter and have bigger heads than 25th versions, but not as short as these movie guys. I was just concerned that if this is true, that means the whole movie line will be significantly shorter than the 25th figures and thus will not display well together. The MARS guys have the old Beachhead head and don't look as good as new Beachhead's head. As well, the figures from the movie might fit into old vehicle molds but none of my 25th figures will fit into movie vehicles. I don't have a picture for comparison but I will try to take one soon. Sorry if you guys already had a thread about this but man, I am bummed because I wanted a few of the movie figures like Cover Girl. I also wanted the PITT and some HISS tanks and I will be annoyed if my 25th figures can't pilot them!   :-

Introductions / Hello from London Terrordrome!
« on: April 14, 2009, 03:01:46 AM »
Hey there, I am new to the site but I have been collecting Joes for a long time! When I was a kid in the 70s my older brother had a big box of 12" inch Joes including the helicopter and the six wheeled tomb raiding vehicle. I especially liked Bullet Head and Steve Austin! My parents decided to give them away one day because my brother (7 years older than me) knew I really liked them and he was being a jerk so he told my folks that he didn't want them anymore. 30 years later and I am still hooked on Joes. I was still young enough to enjoy Real American Hero the original 13 and season 2 and the first 50 comics but after the movie I started to lose interest. I didn't like Cobra La (their battle cry is uber-lame) and the way they had strayed away from the original characters too much. At least Hasbro seems to heave learned from that with Optimus Primes and Duke now always being used in new shows. (After Sgt. Savage they must have learned that lesson for real.) I now have a massive collection, but I still never could replace my 'Rosebud' the 12" ones I used to have. (Even if I could afford to buy them now the elastics inside are all disintegrated, so I would need repros, which would have the same design flaw eventually.) Oh well, nice to meet some other people with the same problem I have! Yo Joe!

JoeCanuck Trading Cards / I got my cards in the mail, Thanks!
« on: April 14, 2009, 02:47:27 AM »
Hey thanks a lot for the Joe cards! I am missing numbers 2, 6 and 8 so if anybody wants to trade I have extras of the rest! There are some great perks to the Canadian Joe team!
