Message Board News / Re: Q&A With Hasbro Canada for the Convention
« on: April 20, 2009, 11:01:01 PM »
-Are we getting the PITT playset and Night Raven in Canada? When are the movie items going on sale in Canada? Why are the movie figures shorter than the 25th line?
-Why is Duke played by a guy who's really young and jock-looking? Shouldn't he be older and wiser?
-When will the new 7 packs be available?
-Will there be a sequel to Resolute, or is it just one show?
-Are we ever going to get vehicle waves 2 and up or the new 12" figures?
-What are the exclusive(s) for the SDCC this year going to be?
-Are there any plans for celebrity Joes like the Fridge or Sgt Slaughter in 25th style? Why not ask Stallone again?
-Will there be a non fuggle-head version of Cover Girl?
-Will I ever be able to use up the rest of my Flagg points? I still have lots.
-If Destro is a pimp sometimes, when can we expect "Gangsta Bitch Baroness"?

I am planning on getting there early, where is there a good spot? Anything free? Maybe just close by would be better.. I was thinking, if I was lucky enough to get a convention set I would probably not want to put it in my car and then go back inside the show :shifty:

You should have a big wrestling ring set up and have all the people just show up at nine am and have a full contact Kumite! Last 90 people standing get to purchase! In all seriousness, though, your method sounds very fair. I just want to get my set for me and as long as I don't have to judo-chop anybody who was 'waiting in their car' I will be happy. What if I have to pee though? Should I bring a Nestea bottle just in case?

I hope not becuase I don't want to show up at 7:00am and find 300 people from Detroit who are just trying to turn the exclusive conventions sets over on ebay.

We have been helping promote the Con for Mike.

Not that I can make it, but is that what you think of us?  :o

Sorry man, no, When I waited in line 3 times for XBOX 360 before I could get one, there was a Canadian kid and his girlfriend who were there every time getting one each to sell on eBay. I just wanted one to play one for suggested retail price. No, us Canadians do it too. I hope lots of people come to the con, but still, I think I might have to bring some tear gas.  ;D

So if this guy is a troop builder, will there be singles available at the show? Otherwise how can we 'build' them if we are only able to buy one set per person? Just wondering because I would buy extra single Frostbacks myself if given the option..  :cobra:

General Joe Talk / Re: "CHROME" Hiss Tank.
« on: April 14, 2009, 01:16:38 PM »
I was thinking.. Maybe they are just saying, lets test this chroming process, what are we running right now? OK make chrome HISS tanks and Storm Shadows. Then they look at them and when they get the mix right they will make Visionaries 2010 or something. Then they would just privately sell the chrome HISS tanks on eBay and send their kids to college with the profits. Otherwise why line them up for a photo group shot photo like that? Unless to show how they look to the executives? Or maybe there will be a chase variant HISS tank like the blue mercenary Wraith. Lord knows we could use some variety if they are only ever going to give us the first wave vehicles. If what they are saying is true about equal amounts of things being made and how we should just wait until they come in to stock (i.e., DVD set vol 5) then imagine how many Firebats there will be 4 years from now.. I just don't believe it. There won't be time until the movie comes out for us to get these waves. We will be getting resolute 5 pack and 2 packs though. They are listed for end of April (same time as show air) shipping in the Diamond Previews catalog so any comic shop can get them.

Yeah the troopers are OK short, if you like a Luke Skywalker Stormtrooper, but Heavy Duty and Destro should definitely be taller than the rest of the figures. I wasn't worried about them standing up as much as how the 25th figures don't fit into any of the old vehicles. When you try to sit a trooper into the old HISS tank you can't close the canopy even if you bend the knees because they are too tall from the waist up (ass to head). If the whole movie line is short, (to skimp on plastic, no doubt,) then I was thinking that my new 25th guys now won't be able to sit in the cockpit of any of the movie vehicles. This seems to me to be pretty dumb, that would be like having two slightly differently sized Barbies with non-interchangeable clothing.. Completely avoidable.

Ya, lunchtimes are usually also either clear or some strange color. They show up occasionally on ebay, and sell for a lot. Just search ebay for -clear Optimus Prime-, or some such term, and expand the search to show completed listings. Takara said once that they know how the lunchtimes are produced, but can't do anything about it, so I would think they just bribe the factory floor managers. The interesting thing is that to make a complete Convoy, for example, they would need lots of different parts from different stages of the line, like the rubber tires and springs in the missiles. So just one guy working at the factory probably wouldn't have access to enough of the parts to make a whole figure without permission of somebody. Maybe they are test shots or promotional for executives or something.

I was looking at these three MARS troopers and the thing that struck me was that they were as much shorter than 25th version figures as classic Joes. (Like half a head shorter.) The waist and upper legs seem blockier. Even Resolute guys are shorter and have bigger heads than 25th versions, but not as short as these movie guys. I was just concerned that if this is true, that means the whole movie line will be significantly shorter than the 25th figures and thus will not display well together. The MARS guys have the old Beachhead head and don't look as good as new Beachhead's head. As well, the figures from the movie might fit into old vehicle molds but none of my 25th figures will fit into movie vehicles. I don't have a picture for comparison but I will try to take one soon. Sorry if you guys already had a thread about this but man, I am bummed because I wanted a few of the movie figures like Cover Girl. I also wanted the PITT and some HISS tanks and I will be annoyed if my 25th figures can't pilot them!   :-

These were at London Walmart White Oaks mall and they still had some the other day at the 24-hour super Walmart. They never had them at Oakridge as far as I know. A funny story, I went to the Toys R Us here in London, and they had these figs. They were $30. I tried to buy one but when I got to the register the machine beeped and wouldn't let her scan it. The tape said that it couldn't go on sale until May 1st. She said they would save it for me and when I went back they were off the shelves. Anyways later that day I went to Walmart where they had tons of these for $25. So I got that one for $5 less. I guess Walmart has them here because they are too ignorant/jerkish to regard giant stickers on boxes that say *Do Not Sell Until* with dates on them. At least they don't leak games and movies. The upshot to me of the entire ordeal is that on May 1st, there will probably be a lot of Joe movie stuff on sale and I would start checking that day if anybody was planning on getting them.
