Title: Zellers stores closing
Post by: morgardee on March 17, 2012, 09:51:36 AM
It's started:

http://www.zellers.com/liquidation/en/default.aspx

Sad to see it go but might be some good deals on the way out.

The deals weren't that great yet. 10 - 30 % off. It was 20% off on Action figures.

The store I was at is closing June 6th. I imagine come mid May things will start to pick up. It was like that when the Blockbuster stores closed. All the good deals were at the end of the Blockbuster sale but you take the risk of less inventory to choose from.

It doesn't really matter that much as the Joe selection was pretty limited already. Might be alright if you want Hot wheels or Lego or something like that. I'll be shopping for my son when they hit 50% off (or more).

Basically look for clearance items right now that you want.  That is really where the early savings will be had.  Otherwise look for items that are "rare" or holdovers from last year.

I picked up a Generations Drift at Cedarbrae for $18 after discount and tax because I wanted one MOSC.  Otherwise there wasn't much else.

The two near me don't start until the 26th, but they have a better selection of items.  I really want some more Skystrikers, but I won't bite until at least 50% off.  Same goes for the clearance Serpent Armors.
