i know we've all debated about our fave figures, but what about the playsets?  not vehicles mind you, but the playsets, small and large, that helped make up our joe world.  as a kid, i naturally wanted them all...but i really thought the tactical battle platform looked cool, but it was one of those things i never got at christmas or birthdays.  after 20 some-odd year, i recently picked up a loose complete one (thanks steve!) and it's as kewl as I always thought it would be.  from the bivouac to the terrordrome....what's your all time fave playset?

oh...and mike...i finally broke triple digits in my number of posts! what's the actual title that goes with such a number?

The tactical platform is one of my top 5 - I love that thing, however you have to have some of the vehicles that go with it, it works best with the Whale.

I think I had the most fun with the Original Headquarters - however again you really needed the Mobat and the Vamp in order for this toy to really open up.

i agree...the headquarters was another that i wanted as a kid and finally got a couple of years ago....i set up the platform with my ideal joe team and realized, sadly that the dragonfly is too damn big for the heli-pad...and i have yet to acquire a skyhawk....but the whale looked very kewl with it, as did the sharc....

The Tactical Platform is also in my top 5, and I do find it dependable to other vehicles like a Dragonfly or a Killer WHALE, or else the playability I find is limited.
Checkpoint Alpha is there in my top 5. You can plot it anywhere with a fence from Build-a-rama, and pretend the security check is to some secret hidden base. Never owned a USS Flagg, but I'm sure it'll be number one on my list.

I've never owned, or even got the chance to play with, any G.I.Joe playsets.
When I was a kid my GIJoe HQ was a Voltron mountain/castle/something.

Today, I just can't justify paying 75$+ and shipping for a hunk of plastic. So I remain playsetless.

I just realised... the only playset I got as a kid was the machine gun defense unit. Does it even count as a playset??

I never had the flag/terrorDrome/Defiant when I was a kid - however now that I own the larger playsets the list goes like this

Defiant - three seperate vehciles in one
Flag - just for the massive amount of options - mainly cobra can attack the crap out of it!
Terror Drome - again for the same reason as the Flag but the joes attack it.
Original Headquarters - had this when I was a kid
Tactical Battle Platform - again had it when I was a kid.

As a kid, I never had any playsets.  But I always wanted the Defiant.

I always liked the tower from 1992. While it was only really good for repelling frontal assaults, when put into the corner of a room, it was inpenetrable!!!

Cobra Surveillance Port.  :shifty:

As a kid I didn't get the big stuff so this was pretty much it.

Having received the Terror Drome as a child it remains my favorite playset.

The Defiant is a close second just in terms of sheer play value even though I have no use at all for space themed figures.

I've always enjoyed the Watch Tower for some reason.

And the Checkpoint Alpha is pretty cool.

The Flagg's about last on my list because it just kind of sits there.

I never really liked the Tactical Platform... really limited for what it is and it's just too small. If it were twice the size, or had a lower level it'd be much better viewed by me.
