I like cake    ???
I also like cake, but as it has no media support, it appears to be doomed.

First, that was some impressive number crunching.

I guess I should have phrased my first post on this another way.
While I am quite pleased with the outcome of the project, and while I am looking forward to the final product (which looks to be some of the coolest military/fantasy/science fiction action figures to come down the pike in a while), the final outcome has me wondering about something. As cool as this stuff is, and as reasonably priced as some of the backer rewards are, why did only 1,195 people decide to try it out? There are a lot of toy collectors out there; did it just not get enough press, are people too afraid of new things, or what?

I think the odd part for me on this project is the number of backers- and that would be how relatively small the number is. When all is said and done it looks like about 1,200 people are all that seem interested in this. Considering that there are 852 registered members of the Joe Canuck site alone, worldwide I would have thought the number this would have appealed to would be at least over the 2K mark.

Did a deal with Jason (Inzane) a few weeks back. Good dude to do business with. I would not hesitate to deal with him again, which is rare for those shifty Edmonton folk. Ha ha!

General Joe Talk / Re: GI JOE AT DOLLORAMA

I can verify the Retaliation Wave 1 reports. Saw them today in Calgary, looks like one case per store.
A reminder:
1x Duke
1x Cobra Commander
2x Roadblock
2x Snake Eyes
2x Storm Shadow
1x Red Ninja
1x Cobra Trooper
1x G.I. Joe Trooper
1x Zartan

I remember after Rise of Cobra, Toys R Us blew out a bunch of figures at 2.98 each, including City Strike Snake Eyes, Jungle warfare Ripcord, Desert Viper et al. That was a much better assortment than what Dollorama has up for offer. That limited articulation kills it for me.

Saying it is an insult to Joe to be sold at $3 each is less of an insult than wanting $10 or whatever it was for some of these hunks of crap full retail. I'm looking at you Duke and Roadblock.

There is also a chance they are the Dollar General Joes, in which case Dollarama is where they should be.

Also, props to ARROW for the most depressing post of 2014. Winona was right, reality does bite.

Alberta / Re: Eaglehawk at Winners
« on: November 25, 2013, 07:54:20 PM »
I just got one at the Winners at Cross Iron Mills north of Calgary. They had Ghost Hawks, HISS tanks ($12.99 ea), Tread Rippers, Fang Boats, and Ninja 4x4s ($9.99 ea) as well.

On my way out of the mall I passed through Toys R Us. I scanned the UPC on the Eaglehawk on their price checker and it came up at $44.99. If they (TRU) ever do stock these things they are going to warm shelves for a while.

Pretty cool Nighthawk. A lot better than what Hasbro offered up.

Love the Belushi eyebrow raise.

General Joe Talk / Re: SDCC 2013 GiJoe Transformers exclusive
« on: October 21, 2013, 10:46:26 PM »
I received my order today.

off the record: who has ordered stuff from Hasbro Toy Shop below?  For 150 bucks and a convention item, I didn't expect to see the bottom of comic book style box to be damaged.  They packed the SDCC exclusive loosely with craft paper in a large box.  WTH.  The effort that must have taken to do this is not even half ass.

I got mine today too Pete.

Mine was packed the same way but I got lucky and nothing was damaged. Still a bit scary hearing it rattle around in there though. I agree with you, pretty shoddy.
