I agree Hamilton is a good spot..A good middle point for the Toronto folk and NF/Buffalo participants. If it jumps into a 2 day show then Niagara Falls is an option but personally I would most likely be driving in for the 1st day, to make sure any deals are still available so a weekend in NF is prob not gonna be worth it..The casino for some is a good thing..for me it is wasting my Joe $ since  casinos are not in the business of losing $. So I would much rather it go to the good folks here. Another knock on NF is the parking at hotels is very small at most of these places and thus might not have the parking to accomodate a show this big.

Sat/Sun does not matter but someone had a good point that a Sat show lets you have a day to enjoy your new purchase before back to work Monday

This year's location worked fine for me, same with the day. If not Hamilton, Niagra Falls on a Saturday would work equally well, if not better due to shorter commute. As for moving it to a different day, I don't see why. I made arrangements in advance with both my jobs to schedule time off for the trip. If it's important for you to attend, you work it out. For those that don't take extra days, having it on Saturday gives you time for a leisurely drive back & a Sunday to recover.

I've been asking the MC group for a Niagara Falls convention for years and it doesn't looking like that will happen. I think Niagara Falls is a great suggestion and while it means I have to travel a bit more, I'm more than willing to do it. As it is right now it's an hour drive for me so I hit the road at 7:00 am and get home around 10:00 pm. If it was Niagara Falls then I would hit the road Friday Night with my wife and son and get a hotel room and make it a mini vacation. Comparing costs to what the MC club charges vs what it would cost me to spend a night or two in a hotel with my family I'm more than willing to make the Canadian Joe Meet my primary annual G.I.Joe convention. It's easier on the wallet as they figures and admission don't cost hardly anything vs the $500.00 or more I spend on MC club exclusives and it's less stressful.

So yeah, Saturday in Niagara Falls works for me.

saturday/sunday makes no difference...i agree with many of the other posts in that it should stay in hamilton.  close enough to the border and easily accesable without the congestion niagara falls and toronto.  if people want to build touristy stuff into their trip, they can do so before or after the convention, as hamilton is central enough to accomodate.  Plus, Hamilton's the Joe Meet's "home"....juts look at the MEGO Meet they have every year in Wheeling West Virginia.  Not that convenient for people on the eastern seaboard, but the fans make the trip.

1.  I would suggest a Saturday over a Sunday since a lot of people come from all.  It really doesn't matter for the people in the GTA area or Niagara region, as the difference between GTA and Niagara is a max 2 hours.  Other that that are traveling from other parts of the country, ie Ottawa, Montreal, and our American friends, might need the Sunday for traveling back.

2. Besides the attendees,  I think you should consider where the majority of the dealers are coming from, if it's too far, maybe there will be less dealers willing to travel, since we presume the cost of gas will be at $2.00 a litre by next year.

3. A location that doesn't cost an arm and a leg for parking, (free is alway better).  So a place that has enough parking to you don't have to stress out to find parking.

If Niagara was chosen, I would consider looking at locations away from the falls - as there isn't much parking there and what is - is pretty expensive.  I wonder if areas such as Lundy's Lane would be better - I would also presume that the cost of the hotel would be much cheaper than the ones located near the falls.

If being held in Toronto, we know parking is always expensive, there is lots of traffic.  Maybe a suburb of TO would be cheaper to stay and have a bit less traffic?

This is just my opinion.  It would make no difference to me where the Joecanuck Con. is held.  I would be there.  Distance in my opinion is not a great excuse for not attending.  Either you want to attend or you don't and if you really want to attend you'll find a way to do so (baring any emergency, family matter or a stuborn boss).  It's not asking anyone to shell out anywhere near the amount of money needed to attend a MC JoeCon.  Carpool, take bus or the train.  Lots of options.

Because I'm really, really coming this year, Niagra Falls on Saturday would be the easiest.  I'm bringing the wife and we were going to Niagra Falls anyway so having it there would just make it a lot more enjoyable for both of us since then she wouldn't have to do any of the JoeCanuck stuff if she didn't want to.  Having it Saturday would give me Sunday to get back for work on Monday.  Like General Hawk said though that means I would have to take off at least Friday before the meet.  I was probably going to take off a few days before anyway since it is Niagra Falls.   Having it on Sunday would mean taking off days on both sides of the weekend.

A side note:

In a future convention, I would like to see the show Ottawa - since it's the Capital of Canada :)

Hamilton should remain the rightful destination for the Con, but don't rule out downtown.  The Sheraton has great facilities and parking is relatively cheap.  Plus you have access to highways, hotels motels and Inns all within walking distances from the Sheraton.

Well, the Falls don't "have it". More people seem interested in it moving to Niagara Falls - doesn't mean it will happen. ;-)

Most people (I'm assuming) don't want to drive to a convention or Toy Show. Understandable, but if you really look at it - what does Hamilton have to offer as a bonus for coming?

I get emails the weeks leading up to the Joe Meet asking what else there is to do in Hamilton - people are usually here the night before, and they'd rather not just sit in their hotel room.

The falls gives them that chance to do something "other" than watch TV.

For us to move it to the Falls, two things have to happen.
1. We have to find a location that is both convenient and affordable.
2. More people have to vote and voice their opinion.

Much more than 27 people post on this site, there's a ton more than that on the mailing list, and on the message board itself. I know most of you will go "wherever" the joe meet goes, but please - voice your opinion - even if it is "I'll go wherever it is". ;-)

We have to keep in mind that this is no longer a meet--it's now turned into a Convention.  So we should expect to be paying alittle more for the venue no matter where it is.  And since it's a Canadian Joes Convention I really hope that one day it's big enough to travel to other provinces and cities across Canada(much like the Collectors Convention bounces around the States)since they won't touch Canada.

No matter where it is I know the Canuck team will put on a great show and consider all the factors involved, but they need "everyones input".  Because who knows one day they may choose your city.
