Title: Darren Howlett sale list
Post by: martin-montreal on May 30, 2009, 10:44:56 PM
Hi Guys,

I met Darren on JoeCustom. I ordered once from him and everything went very well... so much that I'm ordering again! He still has a lot of nice stuff for sale (with more than fair prices). He is from Canada (BC). So his prices are in CAD. He only accept money order. Long story short, he is selling everything he has.

Don't hesitate buying from him: http://s196.photobucket.com/albums/aa317/DarrenHowlett/ (http://http://s196.photobucket.com/albums/aa317/DarrenHowlett/)

PM me and I will put you in contact.

Martin

Yeah...

I don't know why I didn't post this on Jocanuck. Probably because I rarely participate here, and felt like I'd be shilling to post it. But yes, I am selling my collection. I've sold a good 5th of it already, tossed another 5th. Out of what's left, half of it is in these pictures, the rest in pictures I'll never find the time to take. All of the remaining un-photo'd items are vehicles and playsets, mostly in multiples. If there's something you're looking for in domestic vehicles and playsets, chances are I have it.

But you can see what I have photographed here:

http://s196.photobucket.com/albums/aa317/DarrenHowlett/ (http://s196.photobucket.com/albums/aa317/DarrenHowlett/)

And at this point, I'm willing to work deals. Not the least of which is that the prices are in US dollars (as 90% of the buyers are in the US), but I'm selling to Canadians at par.

Thanks for looking,

Darren

Hey all. Thanks to everyone for the overwhelming response and purchases. I've made 9 transactions on this board since Martin posted this. Thanks Martin!

I managed to re take photos of items that were on hold, but have had no responses from the prospective purchasers, so these items are all up for grabs again. There's about 24 or so new pictures. They can be found in the 'newly added' sub folder which is entirely figures right now - loose, carded, foreign, Con items, and rare figures.

I will (I swear) eventually get the last pics snapped up. It's another 100 or so loose vehicles. Hopefully up within 2 weeks.

For the record, I'm willing to make some pretty lucrative deals on vehicles right now, as I have no interest in moving them when I move next month.

Thanks again everyone for your interest,

Darren

Thanks so much for all of the business thus far, it's appreciated!

Anyone hear from him?

I have sent payment, and a couple of PMs and no product or response.

I have dealt with him before once. Delivery took a little over a month but it was worth the wait, due mainly to the fact it was a big shipment, and it was shared with Martin-Montreal, which required extra coordination from Darren. And I am now waiting for my second order. One must take into consideration that it is not that simple for everyone to sell their entire collection.

It happens that I  have to wait a while before getting a response, but I do end up getting an answer from him.

I echo what LJ22 just wrote. I already got 3 boxes from Darren and I'm currently waiting for a 4th one.

Shipping takes a little bit longer than a usual trade, but all the packages finally arrived. I got a little issue, but nothing that can't be resolved.

Canprime, I think you did the right thing by sending him a PM, then by posting a message. But, I don't think you should worry. Give him a little more time and you should get your package as promised. I said the same thing to LJ22 before

I think he is currently managing a lot of things in his life, but he is not a thief.

I understand what you guys are saying, and I can wait.  I don't want to cast aspersions, I'm just concerned how quickly he responded to get payment, but nothing since.

I'm in the same position, I worked out a deal with Darren and sent payment about a month ago, but haven't heard anything since.  Quite a few people here have said good things about Darren so I'm going to sit tight for a bit longer.

Darren's a great guy, I've personally met him a few times, and selling a collection the size of his is no doubt daunting, and I know he's got some personal issues going on as well - so I'm not surprised it's taking time.

I too have made a number of orders with him, and am waiting on one - although I have no worries. He's good to his word, and will come through.

I've heard from Darren via another person. He has no access to internet anymore - hence the lack of communication. Any outstanding orders WILL ship, but it will likely be towards the the end of the month.

So fear not, your items will come.

Just to coroborate, I remember ( but was doubting of my good memory ) him telling me that he was in the process of moving around september 15th, which is why he had to receive my payment to his former address before that.

So this kind of confirms that what was supposed to happen happened. I agree - There's absolutely nothing to fear.

So.

Another month has gone by.  No product, no response to messages and no money.

Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm at the point now where 2 months is way too long.

I would suggest not dealing with this guy since it appears my money is gone.

Darren WILL come through, I assure you.

People are reporting they are starting to get their packages (mine just came on monday) so I would expect you'll see yours within the next little while.

I completely stand by Stealth's words. Martin-Montreal and I both received our packages last thrusday. I just forgot to post here first.

I advise that you jump to other things ( which is not easy I agree ) and try not to think about it too much. In other words, an alternative to waiting. Rest assured, I have a good feeling that your package will arrive.

Sorry guys but 2 months to get something that should have taken less than half that time is unacceptable.

I did the deal in cash against my better judgement based on the recommendations of members on this board.

Needless to say I won't be doing that again in the future.  You guys who recommended him should also be concerned since it is your own cred that takes a hit on this as well.

It no longer matters whether or not the items actually arrive.  The deal is soured and so am I.

My recommendation stays the same.  Don't deal with this guy.

I was trying to get in touch with Darren but he seems to be "MIA". I have tried everything...except the following:

If one of his friends is reading this post, can you let him know from our behalf to get in touch with Canprime and I as soon as possible.

Any help we can get from others would be kindly appreciated.

Thanks All,

LJ22
