Quebec / Montreal Comic Con May 9th
« on: May 01, 2010, 02:35:58 PM »
This might come as short notice but I will be helping out a friend at the Montreal Comic Con on May 9th (Yes, Mother's Day) and bring a few loose small SW and Joes. But not the big pieces as I won't have a full table to myself.

For more info, check it out here:

http://www.montrealcomiccon.com/home.htm#gi

I will however be bringing my 2009 Canadian Joe Convention set with box #75 and my extra loose complete Frostback trooper with/without filecard, all for SALE. 'Nuff said.

I'm definitely attending the Canadian Joe Convention this year. Aside from finding the toy on my most wanted list, I also look forward to catching up with some board members and always meeting new ones like NeoDragonKnight that I met last year in the lineup, and Grunt4MPV that I met 3 Conventions ago the same way. Per instance, I'm already talking of grabbing a beer with Pdaat & Dodge822.

So does anyone have plans to hang out after the Con, official or not official? If there is an official dinner/gathering of the kind, is it usually something that is discussed on location for those interested? What did you guys do after the Con the other years?

Let us know here.

Customs / PAST & PRESENT CUSTOM PROJECT
« on: April 08, 2010, 12:39:19 PM »
This is a one of a kind custom thread. It's actually for two customs of the same character but by two different boardmembers, namely NeoDragonKnight and myself, Latinjoe22.

The idea sort of surfaced when we started noticing our own retakes on the Joe Canuck exclusive figures, so after a couple of PM's it was immediately clear that the spirit was: "Hey, I know you're eventually going to customize a Timbit, and you know I'm going to make one too: so why not make a conjoint project out of it, that is, if you feel like it."

Neo's specialty is the 25th style construction customizing while mine still operates on ARAH, so that beeing a major difference in our hobby, it easily set the theme for our project: PAST and PRESENT.

This is the first time we try something like this, and we wanted it to be more than anything an initiave of common goal and team effort while having fun, so let us know what you think. Oh yeah, and for questions of very limited timed, we decided to leave out Snackpack and the box of Timbits for now. Enjoy!

The title says it well. Bandonov hooked me up with a Panther and Rockslide when I couldn't find them in my local Zellers stores. I'm glad Bandonov is on our Joecanuck team and I look forward to future trades with him.

General Joe Talk / Are the gi joe deSimone guides worth getting?
« on: January 04, 2010, 12:41:24 AM »
Hi I'm contemplating geting the gi joe deSimone guides ( volumes 1 and 2 ). They're about 24 pages each and showcases all complete loose 3 3/4 inch figures from the 1982-1994 era.

I already own the Ultimate guide to GI JOE but I'm looking into having a practical magazine format I can easily carry with me anywhere without the fear of damaging it: Are these worth getting you think ? What makes it different from Mark's guide ( text, format, pictures ) ?

Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

Off Topic / The movie "Avatar"
« on: January 03, 2010, 12:01:24 AM »
Just want to say that I went to the movies today in a very long time and I wasn't disappointed.

Avatar was by all means a movie that delivered just about everything, including very ultra believable futuristic military technology, ships and weaponry. I will not spoil it for those that didn't see it and are going to. Just go see it for yourselves, even if it's not the 3D screening it is still amazing. Seeing is believing .

For Sale or Trade / Wooden COBRA sign - SOLD!!!
« on: December 16, 2009, 10:37:45 PM »
The title pretty much says it. It's a 3D wooden sign custom made by a friend of mine.

Painted in red and black, it's about 11 inches in span. It was intentionally made to be hung on a wall, but no hole was ever drilled on the back.

[s:1k9e7je6]Asking 50$ for it ( negotiable ) :cobra:)[/color]

Thanks if you can help me on this.
