Title: You know it'll be bad when: G.I. Joe Edition
Post by: Canuklehead on June 14, 2009, 10:22:07 PM
In theory, a G.I. Joe movie is a great idea.  In practice:

But tell me you didn't see that coming.  Maybe not the director getting canned, but that GI Joe would end up being a stinker.

I consider myself to be both a GI Joe fan and a fan of the new re-imaging modern movies are taking...  But GI Joe should have stuck to it's roots.

Update: According to Variety, Sommers was never fired and is still polishing the film. Also, it's written into his contract that he has final cut. Additionally, test screenings have supposedly yielded "mostly positive reviews."

A lot of people said the Indiana Jones Crystal skull movie was a flop up to and after it was released.  The movie was ok.  However, people still saw it---$750 million world wide in my books isn't a flop.  Harrison Ford's take---over $64 million.  And the toy line died off early because of poor planning on Hasbro's part, a mistake they won't make twice.  So I think bad buzz and bad reviews aren't going to deter GIJoe from being successful.

I liked Indy 4. I don't see why it's got all this bad press. Yes, the end reaked of Lukas but all in all I had fun watching that movie.

BTW, don't eat pancakes and type at the same time. Now I have to clean my keyboard.

This is when I usually say "That's what she said", but then I end up looking bad.  :-
