OFFICIAL Joe Meet 2006 Information
« on: January 30, 2006, 05:24:26 PM »

When:
Saturday, April 8th
From 1:00pm to whenever people go home! (11pm is the latest)

Where:
Sherwood Bowling Center, 1095 Fennell Ave. East - Hamilton, Ontario. (across the street from Bounty Hunter Toys)
The event takes place in Banquet hall downstairs.

For a map on how to reach the location, please goto:
http://www.bountyhuntertoys.com/miva/me ... ry_Code=SI
And go directly across the street! You're welcome to park at Bounty Hunter Toys for the day.

Admission:
There will be an admission of $5.00 per person. With your admission, you will be given one 'ballot' ticket to be entered in an 'exclusive' draw at the meet. (Additional tickets will also be available).

Exclusive:
There WILL be an exclusive figure for the meet this year.
While I don't have the final figure in my hands yet, I can assure you that the few who know about it thinks it looks great!
The cost for the figure will be $20.00. He will include accessories, a file card, and will also include your admission to the meet!
I will post more information on it in it's 'own' thread soon.

Features Of The Meet:

G.I. Joe : TCG
There will be a few tables set up for those interested in playing the G.I. Joe card game. I'm looking for someone to 'oversee' it. Email or PM me if you'd like to help.

G.I. Joe: Rasslin'
Since it was such a huge in the last few years, G.I. Joe will battle Cobra in the wrestling ring once again! I made all the characters last year. I don't have time to make 30 of them this year, so hopefully some of our fellow PS2-inites get some done. We should have two PS2 systems, and 2 monitors to play on once again. PLEASE bring your OWN PS2 controller. We'll have a few extras on hand, but there may not be enough to cover everyone! If you'd like to 'create' some Joes or Cobras, please PM me.

Dealers:
There will be Joes for sale once again at the meet. You'll of course have the chance to purchase from BHT by going across the street, but now you'll have the option to check out what your fellow JoeCanucks have to offer as well! There's not many dealers set up at the meets, but 'we' seem to like it that way. That's what makes the Canadian Joe Meet such a unique event. It's NOT a toy show - just a place for Joe Fans to get together and enjoy G.I. Joe for the day! If you would like to 'set up' a table at the Meet, please email@joecanuck.com if interested in renting a table for the day.

Food / Drink:
If you get hungry, or wish to have a drink, there will be food on hand to purchase. We had free pizza one year, and while that is not an option this time, we can always order one and split the cost.

I think I've covered all basese here. If you need information on some local hotals, the only one I can think of is Airport Inn on Upper James in Hamilton. It's the closest one to the meet, and it's also the easiest one to travel to.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to post them in this thread, AND email them to me at email@joecanuck.com

Should someone else already answer it out here, I'll most likely not reply.

Thanks guys.
Mike

What's the demand like this year for the TCG table?

I have no clue.

I'm assuming Brad and Luke will be playing it again this year - along with Raps and yourself (and Tina?).

Maybe if folks spread the word about the meet, then you'll have more folks to play it with.

Heck, I would even put up a prize to have a mini-tournament going.

I'm bringing my cards if you'll bring tank girl. ;-) It may take a proxy or two, but I am going to challenge that tank deck. Either way, It'll be nice to pay you when there isn't a day or two between turns. ;-)

I don't think that I'll be bringing customs this year, unless I do some up as door prizes. Transporting them and dealing with them and having one break was a pain in the ass last year.

I am also going to play wrestling this year. Just because I hate wrestling, doesn't mean that I can't kick ass at it. (As long as the newest version doesn't screw with the block buttons again. I hated that.)

I'm looking forward to seeing you guys again.

Charles, you can borrow a 'case' I have for toy shows to display your custom figs in.
It has a lock..... they'll be safe.

BRING your customs.
Period.

Meh mike, It's not just watching over them that's a worry, it's the packaging and transporting them that's a pain in the butt.

I will do something custom though for the meet, and maybe bring a few figures if you have a locking case.

A friend of mine transports his Warhammer 40 000 figures in a rifle case. It's got pleated foam that cushion and hold toys and models very well. $25 at Canadian Tire.

And if anyone pulls you over, it's not hard to prove that you're not armed (not dangerous is debatable).

I have a 'figure case' that will work perfect for you Raps.
Seriously, I loved the custom display last year - I'd like to see it grow every year.

Bird Boy, you have to bring some customs. It's cause of your remark "Plus there's gotta be someone besides me and loop with customs... " that I got off my ass and started making some more and I REALLY like the last 3 I've made in the past month or so. That and I have that muscle Snake Eyes figure finished to fight off my Muscle Viper. Might bring those guys along as well. Ah, the joys of epoxy putty.

Starting to run low on good parts now so I'm gonna have to raid the $2.00 bin I think. That and I need to raid the weapons bins in a bad way. Got me a mission Brazil set of figure and no gear and I think most of that stuff besides claymore's helmet are the same the the regular weapons.

Yay Joe meet! I hope I can go, but with no car and no liscence, my coming all depends on if I can get a ride from another Montrealer...  :|

If I can come, I'm definitely bringing whatever customs I'll have finished. I'm pretty sure I'll have at least Hiryu and Hammer finished by then.

And maybe you guys can teach me how to play the card game.

And yes, I need to dig through Mike's 2$ bin too.

Well Jin,
Start emailing other Montrealers.
I know some won't know until 'last minute' and I know some prefer driving by themselves, but you never know.
