General Joe Talk / MIA
« on: March 24, 2023, 01:54:06 PM »
Well, I managed to look through my boxes the other day because i needed to rearrange the space under the stairs for my wife and somewhere in the last 10 years I have lost many of old joes.
Not sure  where and when since most of them were in storage from 2014 onwards... so far the list is
83 Duke
84 Mutt & Junkyard
84 Scrap Iron
85 Lady Jaye
85 Shipwreck but i still have Polly
85 Frostbite
86 Dr. Mindbender
86 Iceberg
86 Sci-Fi
86 Viper
86 Zarana
87 Crystal Ball
87 Zanzibar
88 Astro Viper
88 Toxo-Viper
89 HEAT Viper
89 Frag Viper
89 Downtown

I also found that many of my vehicles are suffering from old age and many parts are starting to break (skids on my fang cracked, the missle pegs on my ferret have snapped off, Vindicator jet has turned yellow, hinges on my Warthog have broken) Its kind of depressing that these toys are getting so old that i can't even store them in a bin without issues. :(

On the flip side I have other joes that I don't remember getting. Like an extra snow serpent, extra iron grenadiers, anniliators. All are played with and missing stuff but I don't recall every owning more then 1 of anything except the Vipers and Snow Serpents.

Anybody else lost figures over the years that you haven't replaced or is everyone pretty much completed their collections? Which was the most missed?

General Joe Talk / Favourite Joe Line
« on: March 24, 2023, 01:25:06 PM »
So, for the few of us that remain. A simple question.
With Classified seeming to be a well received line and the now 6" figure the industry standard going foward, has Classified, or any other joe line,  beat ARAH to become your favourite?
Maybe list your top 3 joe lines and why they are great. (can include any international or even joe inspired lines)

General Joe Talk / Terror drome mishap
« on: February 28, 2022, 10:13:55 AM »
well... it was bound to happen but over the weekend my son was tossing a ball in the basement with his cousin  and accidentally hit the cobra terror drome that i had out on a table. I was looking at what pieces I still needed to replace but was upstairs when they decided to goof around. Lets just say i need another gun turret. Thankfully that was the worst of it, but I nearly cried and it was all my fault.

Piece replacement seems ridiculous at the prices I'm seeing online.  Any suggestions on what is the best glue to use to try and repair this type of plastic? just regular superglue or is there a better alternative out in stores?

General Joe Talk / 3djoes kickstarter
« on: February 03, 2022, 10:43:52 AM »
So I know this is older news and if your still active in the community we've all heard about it but thought I'd throw it up here anyways. THIS IS WORTH GETTING and it closes in 3 days.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/3djoes/collecting-the-art-of-gijoe-a-real-american-hero

I fund my collecting with money from selling old figures. No family money ever gets used for my collecting but sadly I'm at the point where I don't have much to sell besides the stuff I want to keep so i'm going to try and convince the wife this is worth spending family money on...fingers crossed.

Oh yeah! Just got an email from Hasbro pulse indicating its ready to ship earlier then expected.
Hot dog! my first 3 3/4 o-ring figures in like 15 years I think.
Very excited.

General Joe Talk / Thoughts on ReAction line
« on: January 03, 2022, 01:53:47 PM »
Anybody got any views on the Super 7 Reaction line?
Lack of articulation is a HUGE minus for me but I like that dog sled team (but not the price - how the heck is that so expensive!)
I would maybe consider a few as background characters for dios or something along that line but otherwise I'm not that interested. Maybe they can do vehicles?
I don't really know what to make of this line.

General Joe Talk / Favourite playset
« on: November 30, 2021, 12:18:08 PM »
As the title says I'm interested in what is your most favourite gijoe/cobra playset and why? I never had one growing up, (I mostly made mine from cardboard boxes and vic20 cartridges and tape cassette cases.) but I'd love to hear your stories.

I have managed to purchase a few in the last number of years so I have a favourite now but I want to hear you guys first.

General Joe Talk / Arah Pricing
« on: November 17, 2021, 03:30:45 PM »
So I was watching a video on youtube with Bobby Vala in it (I think in reaction to the HasbroPulse reveal) and I thought I head him say that when he worked at Hasbro they thought there were maybe 10,000 fans left who collect ARAH. I don't have a link so sorry.
That got me thinking, if thats true and people are really digging the classified series, do any of you think the ARAH prices will ever drop down again? I mean I just can't afford $50 figures. I need like $20 figures...or am I dreaming?

Part of my question is because of the oring SE and SS pack being offered. I didn't have either of those figures growing up (just V 2 of both but I always wanted them). I don't mind to possibly get this two pack but I'd rather have the originals.

thoughts?

General Joe Talk / Looking back at the collection
« on: April 03, 2020, 04:39:26 PM »
I'm going to say right up front, this message is going to go all over the place.

So with the whole Covid thing going on its kind of slowed life down a little bit and I managed to pull the ol' joes from the bins tucked under my stairs.
Started sorting through the figures again and it was great. I kind of laughed as the condition of some of the figures is worse then I remember, and way better then I remember on others. I actually have a lot less of the vintage 3 3/4 then I recall and way more of the more modern figures then I remember. Looking at it all I really am just loving the older stuff more and more. The sad part is the crazy prices that the figures are going for today. Getting a good deal is a lot harder for me to find as I like to go local. I don't have Ebay and I'm not into social media. I hadn't bought in awhile besides my recently acquired Flagg and just to see figures go for as much or more then some vehicles is crazy to me. It makes me wish I should have chased the old stuff harder way back in the early 2000's. :)

Anyways, it all brought back memories of childhood again. also brought back memories of the old yojoe-the pit yahoo mailing group. Then moving here in 2009(?) to connect with fellow canucks, which sadly I never really took the opportunity to really get to know. Family life took over and collecting took a back seat.

Anyways, I packed everything all back up for now (even the flagg) for another day.
Maybe a question for those who are still around somewhere; Is anyone still actively collecting the old stuff? Or is everyone moving to the new 6" stuff. Does anyone see the price ever coming down on the older things?

I've enjoyed watching some of the YouTube channels of HCC788,  Michael Mercy, Retro blasting, and Formbx257 (who I believe was (is?) a member here) but I still miss reading the new messages here. Where has everyone gone?

enough babbling for now.

Stay safe everyone.

General Joe Talk / Flagg questions
« on: March 09, 2020, 02:48:09 PM »
So I managed to get a Flagg recently and noticed that there appears to be empty spots in the walls molds that I would guess would have originally added some additional parts that insert into them. I assume these were items that were cut from the original product as a cost saving measure and were never produced. Does anyone have any information on what these parts were supposed to be or am I actually missing pieces and need to go find them?

General Joe Talk / If you had the money what would you buy
« on: January 07, 2020, 10:44:43 AM »
Hey guys.

So I've been enjoying my Chrismas/New years holidays and using up some of my remaining holidays from last year to get a really nice 3 weeks off. With the kids back school and my wife taking an afternoon nap with the ones at home I used the time to go to an old vintage toy store.
Really awesome looking at all the different toy lines. I believe I was there for a couple hours :) Seeing the joes again was awesome as I pretty much have been out of it for a couple years mostly because I have no spare money anymore or space  :)

Its kind of funny because while I love the figures, I actually find that I have a stronger desire for the vehicles. In particular my top three (Flagg, Terror Drome, Defiant Space complex). All three were there and all three were selling at price I couldn't ever justify spending on a single item (my wife would kill me!).  I don't think any were 100%. I guess it kind of made me think. If one had the money, which of the three would you buy?

edit: Changed my title. Also any responses don't have to be about those three I mentioned but could be any joe item or combination of items.
