Ontario / Rise of Cobra @ Liquidation World
« on: August 24, 2010, 08:23:30 AM »
My local Liquidation World (Barrie) has Rise of Cobra figures and vehicles for sale.

Figures are $5.88/ea.  They had Crimson Neo Vipers, General Hawk, Night Adder, Nano Viper, Charbroil, Flash, Cover Girl, Deep Six, Eels, and of course Neo Viper, Destro and Baroness.

They had Sky Sweeper, Street Snarler, Mantis Sub and Snake Trax.  These were $14.88 ea.

This is a good chance to pick up some troop builders.  I picked up a couple more Crimson Neo Vipers.

I would like to see them make these figures:

General Hawk with traditional colours in the POC line with either Dennis Quaid's head or reuse 25th.
Dog Fight
Skidmark
Backblast
Sci-Fi
The Crimson Twins for POC line
Serpentor using the design from IDW (they could even use the James McCullen mould from the exclusive)

I would like them to make these vehicles:

Devil Fish
Desert Fox 6WD
Dragonfly
Mauler Tank
and one of the bigger sets like Rolling Thunder, General or Mobile Command Center

I apologize about my avatar.  I was using Mozilla Firefox and it was a picture of General Hawk.  I just switched over to Internet Explorer and saw that it was a huge error message from the site I found the picture.  Sorry about that.  I'll just grab an avatar here to make life easy.

Introductions / Hello Joe Canucks

I have just joined the Joe Canuck forum and I really like what I see.

I have been at Can Joe Con 2009 and Can Joe Con 2010.  Can't wait for 2011.

I have been playing with G.I. Joe since my cousin got his first figure in 1983 (Gung Ho).  I got my very first figure in 1984 (Recondo) and I have been collecting ever since.  My cousin and I used to collect together.  We would look at the card backs and figure out which figure we were going to get every year.  After 25 years I was finally able to convince him to give me his collection and it is on display in my basement with my collection.

I love all things G.I. Joe.  I don't care if it is ARAH, Joe vs Cobra, VvV, ROC or POC.  I even have some 12" stuff kicking around as well.

I look forward to reading the forums and getting to know some people.

Yo Joe!

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Re: My Favorite Joe Con moment...
« on: August 14, 2010, 09:56:03 AM »
It was great to see all the kids out this year.  I hope the release of Rise of Cobra and Shout Factory's release of the cartoons have helped build that new younger fan base.  It was fun watching the kids in line get excited about seeing Cobra Commander, Destro and Snake Eyes come out.  My kids were on holiday so they couldn't come this year, but next year will be coming fast enough.

I didn't spend as much as I wanted to, but I spent all I could afford.

I got:
G.I. Joe Resolute 7 Pack Joe
G.I. Joe Resolute 7 Pack Cobra
Oktober Guard 3 Pack Comic Set
Lady Jaye/Cobra Trooper Comic Set
Fred CG/Scarface Comic Set
Phantom X-19 Stealth
Sea Ray w/ Sea Slug
Roadblock Bust
Air Viper Commando w/ Jet Pack (Target Exclusive)
Crankcase
ROC Arashikage Showdown

but my favorite was Larry Hama autographing my G.I. Joe #1 from 1982 (original printing).  That is a great addition to my collection.

I was at 2009 Can Joe Con and I was at this years Can Joe Con.  Comparing the 2 shows I enjoyed this years show more.  The Sheraton is a great location to have the convention.  It is easy to get to.  It is also big and bright.  The vendor floor has lots of space for the dealers and convention goers to get around and browse.  There were a couple vendors from the 2009 Joe Con that I would have liked to see at this years convention, but I know there are a lot of shows and it is not cheap to get around to them all.

I only have one complaint about this years show and that is the amount of time I had to wait in line.  I showed up just after 9am.  I had already completed the registration form so I wouldn't have to wait to register.  But we still had to wait.  I wasn't interested in purchasing the convention exclusive, so I wish there was a way I could have bypassed the exclusive line to get into the show to see the vendor floor.  When we did get in it took a couple minutes to pay for admission and get our passes.  That is my only complaint and it is just a mild inconvenience, I just couldn't wait to get in there.

Many thanks to the guys who put on the show.  I know it is a lot of hard work and it is greatly appreciated.  This year is bigger than last year.  And next year will be bigger again.  We all need to get the word out about Canadian G.I. Joe Convention.  Yo Joe!

I just picked up all the POC figures last night @ the Walmart in Barrie.

I picked a couple of the Alley Viper because they make a better generic Cobra than the Neo Vipers.  I also picked up a couple Cobra Commanders.  He looks much better in red and the card art is awesome.
