Off Topic / Problems connecting to Snowtroopers.ca
« on: October 08, 2015, 01:00:28 PM »
Hi all,

I don't know if there are any of you joe collectors who are also Star Wars fans, but I've been trying to connect to snowtroopers.ca these past days with no success. It seems that the link is broken.

Does any of you that also visit that page have experienced the same problem as well recently?

Any info you may have is always appreciated.

thanks,

Quebec / Montreal Toy Con, Sunday, October 25th, 2015
« on: October 04, 2015, 12:35:57 AM »
Hi everyone!

Just giving you a headsup that the next greatest toy show in Montreal will be on October 25th 2015, at the Marriot's Courtyard, from 10am to 4pm.

As for every year, admission is only 5bucks, and kids under 5 yrs get in for free.

To anyone who has never been at this show, it's a fun show to attend and a great place to find toys and collectibles. There's over 50 dealer tables, but don't be fooled by this number, because there are dealers that are specialized in several action figure lines, too many for me to name. It's an event by collectors, for collectors, and also a great family event, lots of toys to find for your loved ones, and it's all organized by the very awesome people at Toys On Fire.

I insist on the fact that they are awesome, because I've been to several shows out in the Montreal area, and it's rare to still pay a 5buck admission for a 1 day experience that is as near as cool as the Montreal Toy Con. Unlike for any other event in the greater Montreal area, they've come to show that it's still possible to maintain a humble formula that works, as well as sparing the extravagent admission fees that come with bigger conventions.

So if you have nothing special planned on that day, and you do love action figures and toys in general, it's worth to check it out (hey it's once a year right? ).

Off Topic / Target to close all its stores in Canada
« on: January 17, 2015, 09:38:38 PM »
I know this made the news a couple days ago, but in case you missed it here is the coverage. Target to close all its operating stores across Canada:

http://globalnews.ca/news/1774232/target-plans-to-discontinue-canadian-operations/

While I did not shop much for toys at Target, my wife and I find their maternity clothes section to be very good. I very rarely made my groceries there, and I only bought one Target toy exclusive ONCE and that was a gift for my nephew. Prices were okay, but not good enough to justify the driving to over there and making it my main shopping destination. Target opened its first store in Canada in 2013...

Quebec / 2015 MONTREAL RETRO EXPO (1st Edition) February 8th
« on: November 29, 2014, 02:37:25 PM »
Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know that a good friend of mine is putting together a new event: the RETRO EXPO MONTREAL, for action figures, toys, collectibles, video games, comics, etc. It's going to be held on February 8th at the Ruby Foo's, at less than 5 minutes walking distance from the Namur METRO subway station.

General admission is only 2 bucks per person, and free for kids Under 10 yrs of age.

This is highly anticipated event made for the fans and by the fans, the very first expo of this kind in Montreal in a series that I hope will continue for many years to come. I'm happy to say that I'm proud to be a part of this, since I know the organizer and I know his strong background experience with doing events like this, and how genuinely committed he is to both dealers and attendees.

There is a 4hour parking for attendees, but why park when you can just take the subway you will tell me of course, LOL! And unlimited free parking for dealers.

For more information or if you're interested in getting a table, go to this webpage: http://gamerscanada.com/retroexpo/retro.htm

Feel free to check it out, and I hope to see some of you over there as well!

Off Topic / Trying to get an old Atari video game system to work
« on: October 19, 2014, 03:09:30 PM »
So I recently acquired an old complete Atari video system. The red light is on when I turn on the power, but I get no signal on the TV. I'm using an LCD 40'' tv (modern era! LOL). And I'm also on channels 2 or 3 which are the only ones that the Atari would use. Is there something that I am missing? Please let me know if some of you had the same kind of problem and how you got around it. I am googleing the "How to's" and most of the sites I found call for repairs but I'm no hardware expert.

Thanks for your help!

Reviews Section / My first toy review ever...
« on: October 16, 2014, 02:12:04 AM »
I opened my Ashiko figure for the first time about a month and a half ago, after owning it mint on the package for over 5 years. And I sold it at the action figure expo in September, and told the buyer the minute he grabbed it into his hands: "NO REFUNDS!" and took his money. End of my review. Any questions?
