General Joe Talk / Crimson Sabotage on ebay
« on: August 10, 2004, 09:37:19 AM »
Although this link has been posted on a couple of sites, I will post it here.

Besides the crappy decals, this set is looking good. The Crimson Guard heads look better than I thought. Can't wait to figure out how to army build this set.

Usernames: O-T / Tattoo Shane just rocks
« on: July 10, 2004, 12:54:47 PM »
Besides the local guys I have met in the Toronto area like Ed, Aaron, Jon, Mike and Jason, I have been able to try to and met up with other Canadians while on business.  First was Spillspleen.  We have met a couple of times while out in the Vancouver. Then was Redmao in Montreal while dropping off some items for him. I wanted to catch up with Scramble the following day but work finally caught up.

Then just this past week, I met up with Tatoo Shane. Usally I have a car rental but there was somebody else from the office with me and they always get the rental. So Shane pick up my tired a$$ after midnight from the hotel to his place. Man, I was blown away by the amount of GI JOE boxed items and Star Wars items he had (especially the rare ones).  I was more impressed in the credentials he has build up in the Star wars community. In the end, the experience of meeing another cool collector is the biggest reason why I stay involved in the hobby (which explains the convention trip).

Shane thanks again for your time and hope to catch up to later on when I am back in Edmonton.

General Joe Talk / Feeling a little hosed
« on: June 14, 2004, 11:00:08 PM »
Well after 4+ months of waiting for the wave 2 VvV pre-order to arrive from a USA online store, it should up at the door today. Man, I know Canada got the shaft for GI JOE figures for the longest time but the Canadian packaging is so cheap in comparision to the American one. I like the carded art pictures on the American packs. No art for the Canadian packaged versions.  Kind of a minor disappointment as the wave just blows.  Now I have 2 sets that blow.

General Joe Talk / Comic 3 packs
« on: May 30, 2004, 07:25:55 PM »
Incase some of you were under a rock

C.C. Baroness, Cobra Soldier

Snake Eyes, Kwinn, Scarlett

Clutch, Stalker, Hawk

Man these 3 packs rock. If these packs sell, I wonder which guys they will release next.  The only guys I want are the October Guard. Then I can customize a Team Canada against them in a hockey dio. :D

General Joe Talk / Dreadnok Rampage - more updates
« on: May 20, 2004, 08:24:34 PM »
All the figures for this set minus the one GI JOE have been posted.

http://www.mastercollector.com/neat/gij ... eadnok.cfm

The Dreadheads having those Jerry Springer, trailer park trash, hillbilly names doesn't do anything for me. The figures I can live with but the names argh.

Out of the three sets made so far, this would would have to rank number 2 behind the Crimson Strike Set.  But far better than the Anaconda set.

General Joe Talk / Any weird shipping stories?
« on: May 08, 2004, 08:19:17 PM »
I will start off

A package I sent to Argentina for a trade was finally picked up by the guy I was trading with.  It took 10 freaking weeks.  Apparently, their customs had the package for 4 weeks.    I can't figure that one out.

Ontario / BTR @ Loblaws
« on: May 05, 2004, 09:22:18 PM »
I can't escape this junk.  Not only I am I pissed that I bought when BTR first came out but now this stuff is dirt cheap.  The smaller sized BTR Joes are  4 bucks.  The medium sized ones are only a few bucks more.

General Joe Talk / 2004 convention exclusive pics so far

Sorry, Loop but I could respond to this on joecustoms because it was locked.  I hope you don't take any offence.

My views.  I am loving this set so far.

Crusher:  This figure is starting to grow on me.

Mutt: Drool. Way better than the battle corps versions.   And Junkyard in brown colour just freaking rocks.   Junkyard will go nice with the grey one I have from the UK.  Plus they painted his teeth and eyes.

Beachhead:  I really like the colours, regardless of how many people have whine about it.  The UK Tiger Force colour scheme was not like the USA version. So why do people expect everything to be made to fit into old colour schemes?

Zarana: Not bad but I wished Hasbro had never used that head for that figure back in the day.

Thanks to Brian Savage for keeping the ARAHs alive and all his hard work for the convention     Thanks for bringing Mutt and Junkyard back.  Woo hoo

And if you can't tell, I am starving for ARAH figures as I have grown a real dislike for the JVC figures lately.  VvV 2 was probably one of the biggest pieces of crap I have got in along time.  Plus I have not been disappointed in the convention sets so far or any of the TRU repaints exclusives.  Man, I am starting to sound like Mr. Wheeler lol.

Well I went to the Toronto toy show today (I was bored and didn't go to any of them last year).  The funny thing was I didn't go for JOE stuff but went to hunt down some McFarlane Toronto Maple Leaf figures (now I know where the all the Maple Leafs ones at TRU and Walmart went to in this area... scalperville :x Man was I pissed at the prices for them).  Anyways, I talked to two of the dealers that I have known for while that sell GI JOEs at these shows.  They both told me that GI JOE had already reached it's peak and is on on the decline in terms of interest in terms of vintage stuff.  The last 2 years was a gold mine for them.  But most collectors at the show today (according to the dealers) were only after the "cool" army builders and vehicles according to them.  Funny I went through that phase a couple of years ago.  I guess most people have either had their fill of the regular figures as that is what I really saw today.  I don't think there were any figures in the rare category today.  3 years ago there were.  I think ebay has caused more damage for local toy shows as a seller

So is the vintage nostaglia losing momentum? Or was it a case that the sellers really only had table scraps left?  I guess people have got all the common figures they wanted by now.  Kind of explains the trend I see on ebay where guys like Wild Bill don't sell or move. Storm Shadows and Snake eyes do.  Army builders do.  But I think the peak as been surpassed.  It has happended with Transformers from what I have heard.

Off Topic / Canadian cities - any info we should know?
« on: March 02, 2004, 11:39:31 AM »
Ok, is there anything unique that you can think of in your cities that may be of use for other guys that may travel to them one day.

I am in Montreal on business for a few days.  I found out yesterday you can't make a right hand turn on a red light.    This gets a big WTF from me.

Looks like the johnny come latelys have lots of dough to spent or are really stupid in my view. This is insane.  Like Ed told me, the rubber o rings will break eventually due to the physical properties. This is why I will never be a MOC collector.
